I’m not a very structured person. My days are more figure-it-out as you go than meticulously planned out to the millisecond. In parenting this can be both a strength and a weakness. I love that it enables me to be free and in the moment with my kids when they need to play, but also I know I’m not naturally teaching them as much structure as I could be.
With elementary school and preschool, both back in session now, I’ve quickly learned that we need a morning routine, for my own sake as much as theirs. We could ALL do with a bit more structure in our lives, and we’re starting with the times at home that surround school time.
Now that we have to be out the door at a specific time, it’s EASY to forget some of the essentials.
I thought I may not be the only one with this issue, so I made this fun morning checklist printable to share! This is fun to give the kids so they know what they are in charge of.
They have brush teeth, make bed, get dressed, eat breakfast and take vitamins on their list! When you print out the checklist, you can then have the kids color it so it looks fun and the way they want it to!
When they are done coloring, cut the squares out and use a loose leaf binder ring to connect them together.
Hopefully this will help your kids with their routine!
It’s fun to go over it with them too, I’ve found if my son has something to play with in his hands, he”ll pay more attention as I sit and tell him what he needs each morning.
-Make your bed
-Put on new clothes (your kids might not need this reminder, but mine have their favorite shirts that they want to wear EVERY DAY, and need to be reminded that doesn’t fly during the school year).
-Eat your breakfast (like this or this)
-Brush your teeth
-Take your vitamins
(My kids LOVE their Nature Made® KIDS FIRST® vitamins, but that doesn’t mean they always remember to take them. I do have to open the bottle and make sure each child has the right amount, but I like having it on their checklist because I want to help them get into this healthy routine now, that can hopefully last their whole lives!)
I grab their Nature Made® vitamins at Target and know I’ll always get a good price, and also get vitamin gummies that my kids will LOVE and want to take every single day!
How do you get back into your school routine? Share with us in the comments, don’t forget to download the printable if you’d like to use and grab the Nature Made® KIDS FIRST® vitamins at Target the next time you are in the store!

Thanks for the tip. I homeschool, so we do not need a checklist for getting ready to go to school, but we do need a checklist for getting ready to leave the house. I do everything to get us ready to leave the house. I remind them to get everything they might need. It would benefit all of us to give them some of the responsibility. I love your idea with the cards that they can see and touch. I love the idea of letting them color them and personalize them. Thanks.
