I got a text from our photographer a couple weeks ago… “hey what do you think about doing family photos in front of street murals downtown this year?”
I was immediately hooked. I love finding unique ways to do photos, and while I have cherished our pictures every year, I was ready to try something other than the typical “family standing in a field” shots that we’ve taken for the last couple of years.
The downtown Houston street murals did not disappoint.

There are two blocks with various street murals, and you can even watch artists creating new ones as you explore the ones already there. There are new ones popping up all the time.
After getting our pictures back, I knew I’d be looking to Minted.com to find the BEST Christmas photo card for our family pictures.
The cards from Minted are always such high quality! They also have little features that make choosing a card so much easier.
For example, after you upload your favorite picture you can view THAT photo in many cards at once. This makes narrowing it down to one card quicker and easier.
You can also search by number of photos, no photo or even orientation and price.
Most can be customized with a variety of color options so you can find something that matches your family’s outfits in theme and color.
There are gorgeous and elaborately decorated cards, and one that are simple and allow the photo to do most of the talking. (The above, was definitely a favorite, and my second choice!)
You can also search by holiday greeting. Our family celebrates Christmas, so you can see I chose only those of this theme, but there are plenty of other options too!
It amazes me how the designs can give different feels to the same photo!
In the end, we decided on the following Christmas card, and included our two favorite photos from our mural photo shoot downtown!
Lastly, Minted.com has graciously decided to give away THREE gift cards to their store worth $100 each! Click here to enter the giveaway so you can order your own cards and photo gifts!
Good luck with the giveaway! I’m always excited to see who wins!
If you are in the Houston area, I highly recommend our Houston area photographer who did these great shots and our family photos through the years!
Lastly, don’t forget to include a Christmas letter with your cards this year. We have some fun tips to help you write a letter that isn’t boring OR braggy!
