Do you feel like you are failing as mom?
I think every mom feels like that at one point or another.
Be it guilt about the way you birthed your baby all the way up to degrading yourself for getting snippy with the kids at bedtime. Mommy guilt engulfs us far too easily.
While we all have our shortcomings, do you want to know what the biggest one is? The biggest way you (and I) fail at this motherhood thing?

It’s not for serving fast food now and again
or not being able to come up with those snazzy and creative discipline techniques that make sense to kids righ away.
Nope, none of that. It’s simply forgetting that you are great.
Motherhood is not easy and most of the time it’s thankless.
Traffic doesn’t stop in awe of our parenting skills and let’s face it, the only time we hear from strangers (or most relatives) is when they feel obligated to reprimand us or give out some unsolicited advice.
It’s easy to focus on the negatives. That never ending list of “should-have-dones” and “might-have-workeds”. All the ifs, worries and second guesses pile up on our shoulders and make it hard to breathe and impossible to remember.
We’re doing okay.
We’re awesome moms.
We play with our kids (even when we don’t want to). We feed them, we take their attitude, we love, and we teach until we are overcome with exhaustion.
And then we keep on going.
Because othe love we have for our kids is unexplainable and immesurabely more important than our mess ups as moms.
It’s a new day tomorrow.
It’s a new minute right now.
There is always fresh time to connect, or re-connect with your kids.
To say those “I’m sorrys”
To give out “I love yous” with smiles and tickles.
To share in the tiniest of moments that your children find beautiful.
The number 1 way you are failing? It’s something you can fix right now.
By admitting to yourself that you are doing okay.
You are enough.
You are a great mom.
You are a success.

I needed this so much right now. I have readers tell me what a great mother I am but yet I just see everything I am doing wrong at the end of the day. Thank you for the reminder! Sharing on my facebook page tomorrow.

I so needed to see this right now. Just the other day I went on a rant of how I am screwing up my kid. ThIs helps put things in perspective.

Amen! It’s so easy to be hard on ourselves and focus on where we’ve falied. It’s so important to remind each other that we’re doing just fine!

Thank you. I read this just at the very moment I needed it the most. I don’t have anyone to tell me if I’m doing ok or not. Your post offered an alternative to the voices in my head.
