Have you noticed that parenting is oftentimes cliche?
As much as we may say “ever family and every child is unique”, there is so much that is universal. For every piece of parenting that divides us there are dozens that can bring us together.
Sleepless nights, tantrums, kids who each constantly and then start refusing everything that doesn’t involve powdered cheese.
The truth is there is so much more that unites us than there is to divide us.
Don’t be afraid to reach out and be honest with another mom. Sometimes you might get burned. There are some that like to focus on the diferences instead of embracing our similarities
but in reaching out, you just might find a breath of fresh air when you feel like motherhood is taking your breath away.
Lisa Jo Baker said it well on her Facebook page the other day
“Remember what unifies us, we’re all in this together moms”.
There is a reason there are countless parenting cliches. Although we may make small choices that are different from one another, there is so much that rings true for each of us. The beautiful pain of motherhood is something that is universal. We all feel it, love it, embrace it and weep with it.
Open your heart to another mom today, share a smile and remember what unites. Let’s all do our part to build one another up and end the mommy competitions once and for all.
