Have you ever heard some one (oftentimes without kids) talking about the importance of self care, except the way they define it, requires hours you simply don’t have in your day?
This used to really frustrate me. Sure, I’d love to have a full spa day as “self care”, relax at the beach for a few days by myself or even simply sleep in a little one day of the week to catch up on all the sleep I missed getting up to work all week long. Oh, and maybe also all those hours I’m missing getting up with kids all night long.
I’m not sure where I’ll find those extra hours though. Sometimes it seems like the only thing that can truly help with tiredness is about 5 straight days of slumber. And possibly copious amounts of dark chocolate.
Friends, it doesn’t have to be this way though. I’m very excited to be partnering with Hyland’s to talk about a better way. A Much. Better. Way.
I’ve used Hyland’s products with my kids before, so it’s a brand I’ve trusted for years, what I didn’t realize until recently is that not only do they have products for kiddos and babies but also for us moms. There’s a line of products to help us and we didn’t even know it!
Start with Hyland’s Good Morning it’s a quick dissolving tablet that you can take in the mornings to help with drowsiness and irritability. What I love though is that it’s caffeine free. So many of us (myself included) take to chugging coffee on those days when we’ve missed 90% of our sleep the night before. While I know this isn’t a healthy option (Especially since I add all sorts of sugary things to mine), I feel like I don’t have much choice if I’m going to be a nice human that day.
Not. Anymore. Y’all, this is a safe and effective way to get yourself moving and awake when you’ve been up all night with a kiddo with growing pains (my current reason for sleepless nights) or sleeping with a darling kicking child who was having nightmares in his own bed.
Most days, I wake up feeling the same way my daughter looks in this photo. Just not quite ready to face the day.
Hyland’s Good Morning tabs are enough reason in and of themselves to send cookies to the brilliant people who came up with this, but it doesn’t even stop there.
They also released a product called Hyland’s Nerve Tonic, which can be taken in times of high stress or nervousness to help calm you. I think we’ve all had those days when everything is going wrong and then we start losing our mommy calm and freaking out about all the things. I’m thankful to have a homeopathic all-natural active ingredients (and FDA regulated) solution for those moments.
I’m a huge supporter of self care, I think taking time to breathe and reset is so essential, even for moms, but also there are times when your spouse is out of town for 10 days, you have work deadlines and puking children to deal with and it’s just all too much. Hyland’s Nerve Tonic is there for those exact moments, and all the other crazy things we deal with as mamas!
Still not over y’all. The one I’m perhaps most excited about has to be Hyland’s Calms Forté. This product is made with four homeopathically-prepared botanicals and six minerals to help calm your mind and body as you get ready for bed. Unlike other sleep aides, it’s made specifically to allow you to wake up feeling refreshed and non-groggy.
I know I can’t be the only one that stays up FAR to late most nights, just trying to be tired enough to actually fall asleep. My husband can literally fall asleep in under 30 seconds. He’s fallen asleep in the middle of one of his own sentences before, and that wasn’t even after a particularly tiring day. On the other hand, I can lay in bed tired for hours and not get to sleep. I end up staying up way later than I should just so I don’t have to lie in bed staring at nothing for three hours. Hyland’s Calms Forté is there for those times when your mind just won’t stop so you can rest.
Personally, I think all three of these should be immediate additions to every mom’s self care box.
BUT Hyland’s knows it’s not just about the boxes of products they can offer, they want to help moms take care of themselves in every way, which is why I’m so excited to be joining them for the Hyland’s 5-day Stress Challenge Event, from September 26-30th.
To participate with us, hop over to their Facebook page each day that week to see the stress challenge they post. These will be quick things that are realistically attainable for all of us.
I’m excited to participate in their challenge because I live my life way too stressed. It’s practically a constant state of being and instead of learning to mask it better, I want to learn to remove it all together! I’m excited about all the tools that Hyland’s is putting together to help us stressed mamas become peaceful mamas!
Will you join me for the challenge? To help you remember, I recommend going to Hyland’s Facebook page today, and opting in, to see posts from them FIRST in your newsfeed. I took a screenshot as I was doing this, so you can do it as well. Simply go to their page, click “like” and then hover over the “like” button. You’ll see plenty of options there but the one you are looking for is where it says “see first”. That will make messages from Hyland’s appear at the top when you log in to Facebook (if they’ve posted anything) and will keep you from missing out on any of the challenges!
It’s easy enough to change after the challenge (simply click back to default, and you’ll see their messages as normal in your newsfeed) but leaving it on “see first” could be a good reminder to keep some of the tasks going from the challenge even after it’s over!
As a special bonus for participating they are even running a giveaway! 1,000 participants in Hyland’s Stress Challenge Event will win one of the three stress products I mentioned above, 5 lucky participants will receive a Hyland’s Stress and Sleep Kit and a $100 gift card. The rewards for learning to take care of ourselves are HUGE!!!
I hope this challenge and these products encourage you to figure out simple ways to take care of yourself throughout the day. Self care for moms doesn’t have to be all day, or even a whole weekend out of the month, sometimes it’s the simple things like taking a 10 minute walk first thing in the morning (I tried that this week with my 5 year old and we had NO morning melt downs from him and I was WAY less stressed the whole day!).
I even took my daughter for a walk later in the day too, which helped immensely as well. The more outside time the better, I’ve found. Even if it’s just in small doses throughout the day!
I’m excited to see the other ideas and challenges Hyland’s has for us next week, I already have it on my calendar and I encourage you to do the same. Let’s see how much better our week can be by taking ourselves seriously for 5 whole days.
We’re in this together mamas! I’ll see you at the challenge!

Regardless of your rhythm of life, it is always important to find time for yourself, to restore your strength, otherwise stress cannot be avoided, and the situation will only get worse. There is a great article on this subject here https://whatistruth.life/what-is-mental-toughness-and-how-to-develop-it/
