What happens When You Recycle?

Thanks to REPREVE for sponsoring today’s discussion. I recently found out about the company REPREVE. It is a recycled fiber that helps turn plastic bottles you recycle into cool stuff you can wear and use every day. Now there’s no excuse not to recycle! I was shocked at how pristine all the clothing was. It doesn’t “look” recycled like what I would have assumed. It all looks like nice, high quality clothing. I thought it was really fascinating to see what happens to bottles after they have been recycled.

How cool is this? repreve   Recycling is something you have to seek out in our community. You can just set out recycling with the trash, so it’s not something that I’ve thought about much. Finding out about this campaign encouraged me to find out more about recycling in our community. Although I can’t set it out with my trash, there is a recycling center about 10 minutes from our house, where I can take recyclables that we’ve collected. bottles It’s not as convenient as setting it out with the trash, but it can still be done. My goal is to start collecting one type of material at a time to be recycled. We don’t have space in our home right now for multiple collection points, but even starting with just one category of recycling is WAY ahead of what we were doing before! IMG_0319 REPREVE is sending me one of their green beanies to try out, and it is one of the softest things I’ve ever felt! Be sure to check out all the really neat products that are made with REPREVE! Brands like The North Face, Polartec, Patagonia, Beija-Flor, Lauren Conrad’s XO(eco) by Blue Avocado, Swiftwick socks, Volcom and more.

I made a video talking about REPREVE and sharing about the beanie! You can check it out above.

So exciting right? In prep for your video, why don’t you share a couple ways that you and your family recycle. And, if you are like me, and it’s been something on the back burner in your mind for awhile, what’s one way that you can START recycling this month? It doesn’t have to be something huge right away. Find a small way you can start recycling and make strides in that direction with your family!
