I love toys that create open ended play experiences for kids. So many things kids have to play with have sounds and instructions to the point that it doesn’t take any type of creativity at all.
We’ve been able to find toys that my son like to play with that stretch him creatively but had still be searching for something for my daughter. This week, our search is over thanks to our discovery of moose toys and more specifically shopkins!
We’ve had various building toys for her to experiment with, but like her mama, she’s just never gotten excited about them. I decided to shoot a video of her first experience with Shopkins, because I thought it was so cute! We sat and played with them for a LONG time.
As she opened each new piece in the Happy Places Shopkins set she got more excited. Then she started designing rooms and putting everything in place exactly where she wanted it! I was shocked at her attention to even the smallest of details.
Each piece went properly in it’s place, she even took the time to attach the dolls to their bases so they could stand up on their own.
There are little design pieces they can work with and even miniature versions of the favorite Shoppies, called Lil’ Shoppies. They live in the Happy Home, with all the adorable furniture. Each piece of furniture has a little face on it.
So much adorableness!
One thing I really appreciate about this brand is that there are sets that come with a lot of pieces but also little surprise boxes with just a couple things inside. My daughter was thrilled with both. The small boxes are something that can be picked up as a special “just because” treat that will totally make her day every single time!
She spent a good amount of time playing with her new Happy Places Shopkins while big brother was in school, but when he got home he begged for the chance to play too and they were able to play with them together, something that doesn’t always happen in our house.
Since this was a toy I keep hearing about, I wasn’t sure if it could possibly live up to all the hype, but it did! There are so many ways to play with Shopkins, I know it will keep my kids busy for a long time. They can work on their decorating skills by setting up different scenes with all the furniture, or play with the dolls and create their own stories.
My kids love taking videos of “movies” they make, so I’m just waiting for them to start begging me to shoot a “shopkins movie” with them. (Be watching youtube…I’m sure it’s coming!)
Be sure to stop by the store and get some of these toys for under the tree this year. They are an opportunity for the kids to play creatively and they’ll have so much fun with them!!!
