It’s been 5 years today. Half a decade of marriage, and I couldn’t be more excited!
If you know mine and my husband’s love story, you know that we had quite the whirlwind romance We got married just over a month after we met…and now it’s been 5 years.
I can honestly say that each year is happier and more fun than the year before. I can only imagine how much fun we’ll be having when it’s been 70+ years! It was actually something I realized the other day, that since we married so young, we actually could conceivably make it to 70+ years of marriage before ‘death do us part’.
It’s always funny, to imagine the day that we met, and think about everything that has changed since that day. We’ve lived in two countries and 5 different homes. He’s had two jobs and I’m on my third. We’ve had two kiddos, sold our truck to purchase a new vehicle and we’re well on our way to owning a home.
One simple meeting in Starbucks, that sparked all this change in both of our lives. The start of so much joy and so many fun times.
Being married is my favorite.
Every year, around our anniversary, I pick a new song that represents our marriage at that time. Some of my favorites in the past have been; We’re Better Together, 18 Inches, Still the One, and Dancing in the Minefields. This year I came across “Everything has changed” by Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran. Part of the chorus says:
‘Cause all I know is we said, “Hello.”
And your eyes look like coming home
All I know is a simple name
Everything has changed
All I know is you held the door
You’ll be mine and I’ll be yours
All I know since yesterday is everything has changed
I just wanna know you better, know you better, know you better now
5 years have past, and we’re having more fun than ever before. Things keep changing and we’re constantly having to get creative to make things work for our little family. but we’re making it happen. Marriage is my favorite. Half a decade later, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.
