Top board games for children
Beat the Parents (Disney Version) Who knows more about Disney? You or the kids? These trivia cards and Disney memories make for a super fun game with the family.
Kingdomino – We got this one a few months ago and it’s quickly become a favorite at our house. Each person makes their own little kingdom and scores according to the size of their areas and how many crowns they have. It does say age 8 and up on the box, but we’ve been playing it with our 5 year old and 7 year old and they’ve both been able to grasp the game and play along. Kids won’t be able to play this on their own until they are a bit older, but it makes a fabulous family game! We enjoy it so much we play it with our adult friends sometimes even when the kids are there.
Best board games for 5 year olds and 6 year olds
Some of these games, while technically for older kids, we’ve thoroughly enjoyed with our 5 year old too. We love finding fun board games for 5 year olds and 6 year olds that work for the whole family. I was excited about so many of these games because they are fun for all elementary school age kids.
Rooster Race – In this silly game, players race to collect ears of corn by calling out if cards are lower or higher. It is a fun one to play with a group of kids or as a family.
Thin Ice – This one always makes the kids laugh. You take turns placing wet marbles on a paper towel until some one breaks the towel (ice)!
Topple – This game improves balance skills as players take turns placing pieces precariously on the tower. Try to make it balance perfectly or try your luck at making it fall on your opponents. This one is always perfect for a fun evening of games with the family.
Charades for kids – A traditional game with over 450 ideas of what kids can act out.
Kids of Carcassone – Carcassone is one of our favorite board games for adults, and the kids version is perfect for younger kids!
This is a cooperative game, meaning the whole family will work together to beat the game, instead of opposing one another. Our family loves using games as a way of practicing healthy competition, and congratulating others when they win, cooperative games are very useful too! We find these cooperative board games are great for practicing team building with your 5 and 6 year olds.
Googly Eyes – This is a hilarious game to play as a family! Put on vision altering goggles and see if your team can guess what you are drawing. So so fun!!!
These games are perfect for family night with the kids, or for the kids to enjoy on their own! Which one is your favorite/
