If you are considering putting your child in preschool, I’m excited to share with you some of the reasons we LOVED our preschool experience with both kids. If I had it to do over again, I know I’d make the exact same decision and enroll them!

Preschool is such a big decision to make for a child. It can be hard to figure out when is the “right” time, or if you want to enroll them at all.
Going into preschool with my son, I wanted to try it out. I didn’t have a lot of strong opinions about preschool one way or the other, but I was willing to see how it would go. It was amazing, and I’m beyond thrilled that we sent both kids.
There are so many factors to consider when putting a child in preschool, but here are a few reasons that ended up being the most meaningful to us.
Preschool teaches kids structure
I am a chaos-embracing kind of mom. When my kids were toddlers we never had very scheduled days or very much consistency in our lives. We would just do whatever came up on that particular day. When my son was around 3 years old I realized that he could really benefit from some structure in his life. I started to think that the influence of other adults and kids would be helpful for him too. Preschool gave him the opportunity to build his independence, get used to having a schedule during the week and how to behave in a classroom setting.
I can’t imagine how challenging it would have been for my kids if Kindergarten was their first step into a structured, school setting. Preschool helped ease them into the school world in a fun, positive way.
It prepares them for school
Kindergarten is a big deal these days, by the end of the year the kids are reading!!! And in most places Kindergarten lasts a full day. Preschool helps ease them into the transition of full-day school and prepares them for what they need to know academically. Since our kids went into Kindergarten knowing basic math skills, and all the letter sounds, they were able to spend the first few weeks adjusting to their new schedule and figuring out how the classroom worked. This did wonders to help them transition into the new classroom schedule at the “big school”.
Preschool builds a foundation of a love of learning
One of the most important things for me has always been giving my kids a love of learning. Of course, I want them to do well in school, but I think it’s important that they enjoy their studies and are encouraged to learn their whole lives and not just when they are inside a classroom.
Finding a preschool with values that align with my own was essential. KinderCare is an inclusive program that I believe helps foster this love of learning through their dynamic approach to preschool. When you enroll in KinderCare you can be confident that your child is being offered world-class curriculum in a way that works for their own personal learning style. This is a huge first step towards nurturing and growing that love of learning in your child!
It fit our lifestyle
When the kids were in preschool my husband and I were both working. Even though I worked from home, preschool provided the opportunity for me to get a lot of my work done while the kids were at school, which meant I could be more present and engaged with them when they were home. In many ways I felt like sending the kids to preschool brought us closer together as a family!
KinderCare has 1400 centers in 38 states where you can find a variety of schedule options that can work for your family.
If you are curious about preschool
Have you ever wondered what it’s like at preschool these days? You can schedule a tour and a conversation with a KinderCare leader right on their website. I’ve found this can be the best way to see how wonderful preschool could be for your child. You have the chance to look at the KinderCare location nearest you and talk to the staff and get to know them before you enroll your child.
My husband and I have talked multiple times about how we are both so glad we chose preschool for our kids, and I think you’ll be happy with the decision to try KinderCare too! Find the location nearest you and schedule a tour today!

Even though we ultimately decided against preschool this year, we are looking into a program that has a drop-in day next year. I had an amazing preschool experience as a child, worked in preschool as an assistant teacher, and absolutely believe that for some kids? Preschool makes a huge difference.

It’s amazing how these early decisions can feel like you’re deciding which college to send your child to. We ended up sending our first to Preschool, and I feel like it helped her transition into Kindergarten immensely. I’m glad you wrote this because it’s time to start looking for my son to go next fall, and the place we sent my daughter has closed down. I think there’s a KinderCare by our house so that would be perfect!

Our oldest was in preschool when I was a full-time stay at home mom. It was great preparation for kindergarten and gave me some special one on one time with his younger brother. I am a fan of preschool.

The early development school is part of preparing for the inevitable changes to start the path to knowledge with joy. The use of fun activities, paints, and play dough helps to associate learning with fun and enjoyment. You can find the best Autism intervention here
