Marriage is a funny thing, isn’t it?
Relationships are hard, not just the marriage ones – but marriage is the only time you know you’re stuck with that person forever. Which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your perspective. Most especially in that first year.
With all the warnings and well wishes, I can’t help but think that there are a lot of things that the greeting card variety of advice misses when talking to someone before they wed.
It’s not all “smile and eat the burned cooking” (although that is key if you happen to cook as well as I do… I’ve caught the kitchen on fire 3 times and he hasn’t once broken his smile!).
For every joke made about cooking and cleaning, there are at least 10 made about the “wedding night”.
Now don’t worry, I’m not going to go all R-rated on you. But just let me point out that there’s something missing here too.
We don’t need tutorials on consummating the marriage…most people can kinda figure that one out.
What’s needed is the warnings about how in the world you get through life sleeping next to another person.
For the first few decades of your life you have the whole bed to yourself. It’s wonderful, and comfortable and perfect.
Then suddenly you are sharing.
Seriously, what’s up with that?
It seems like a great idea at first, and sure there are benefits. But then you actually have to sleep.
Sleeping next to another person is hard.
I have a friend who said she woke up every day for MONTHS and was shocked and startled that there was a man in her bed. She had to keep reminding herself he was supposed to be there.
But after you get over that shock… there comes the blanket war.
Now here, I can’t complain. I’m always warm at night, it’s just that apparently I like to cocoon myself up in our only blanket and leave my husband with nothing.
Sharing. Apparently I’m bad at it. Oops.
Another thing I apparently do? Flailing. That’s exactly the term my husband uses. Flailing. It’s a special term for when you kick, and flip around and smack people in the middle of the night.
I’ve only smacked him in the face while sleeping once, but he’ll never let me forget about it.
Marriage is rough in the bedroom, and yes, I’m still just talking about sleeping.
Then we get to snoring.
There’s literally nothing worse than sleeping (or, not sleeping, I suppose) in the same room as someone who snores.
It’s not okay you guys.
Smack me in the face? Forgivable.
Steal the blanket? I’ll find another one.
Snore all freaking night long. Nope. Not okay.
Just ask Sandi and Bob from the video series…they know. And so do other Americans too! According to a recent online survey from the Breathe Right® brand, 59 percent of respondents sleep next to a mouth breather and 47 percent believe it impacts their ability to get a good night’s sleep.
So what do you do? Breathe Right® nasal strips. They’re drug-free and a clinically proven way to open your nose to help you breathe better so you and your spouse can sleep better and get your #NightsRight… together.
Forreals, it gets the job done and you can go back to flailing around, stealing blankets and maybe sorta sometimes smacking your spouse in the face while you sleep.
Priorities you guys, am I right?
Anyone who has ever bunked with a snore-er knows that Breathe Right® nasal strips belong at every wedding shower. There are a lot of forgivable things that happen every single day of marriage. But not letting your spouse sleep? That just won’t end well.
Have you ever had to deal with a snoring partner? How did you get through it?

Haha! One of the hardest parts for us was realizing that words/phrases have different meanings for each of us.. example: “clean the kitchen” to my husband means rinsing and stacking the dishes we ate off of. To me it means all of the leftovers are put away, all pots/pans, dishes are cleaned or in the dishwasher, and I don’t need to do anything if I walk in there ;) Little bit of a difference!

My husband snores so loudly that you can hear him all the way across the house! He actually told me once that he was worried nobody would ever marry him because of it…LOL! Luckily he found someone like me that can usually sleep right though it! I can see where these strips would be very helpful though!
