Now that the kids are officially back in school things are settling back into a routine a little bit more. I love Summer, but at the same time I can’t help but be a little bit glad that it is over and we can find normal again in the midst of our busy schedules.
Part of this getting back to normal has meant date night for my husband and I for the first time in awhile! We stayed so busy during the last few months it was hard to squeeze them in, but now we can go back to our weekly date nights, even if they just happen around the house. I’m extra thankful to Breyers Gelato Indulgences for sponsoring this conversation AND providing the tastiest desserts for impromptu home date nights!
For the perfect date night IN, start with dinner… We already do dinner after the kids are in bed (so I guess you could say every night is date night?), make sure your phones are off, or at the very least commit to ignoring them for the night!
Then, my husband makes coffee while I get the Gelato bar going. He makes gourmet coffee (grinds the beans himself) for us every night. Coffee and gelato are the perfect match too!
I love that Breyers has four new flavors added to Breyers Gelato Indulgences line up this year, we’ve had a lot of fun trying all of them. In addition to my old favorites (Breyers Gelato Indulgences Vanilla Caramel,Breyers Gelato Indulgences Raspberry Cheesecake,Breyers Gelato Indulgences Tiramisu and Breyers Gelato Indulgences Triple Chocolate) they now have four new offerings and they are delectable!
The clear winner in my opinion is the Breyers Gelato Indulgences Strawberry Truffle flavor. It’s strawberry gelato topped with rich fudge swirl and dark chocolatey truffles. You guys. It is every bit as amazing as it sounds!
They also have Breyers Gelato Indulgences Mint Chocolate, which is mint gelato topped with fudge swirls and curls….Breyers Gelato Indulgences Chocolate caramel, chocolate gelato topped with caramel sauce and chocolate curls, and another fave…The new Breyers Gelato Indulgences Cappuccino, with cappuccino gelato topped with foamy cream swirl and chocolate chips.
You seriously can’t go wrong with these options!!!
After coffee and dessert it’s game time! We play our favorite board games (right now we’re obsessing over dominion since they came out with a new expansion!) and have fun attempting to demolish each other via competitive board games!
We end the night either by discussing a book we’re reading together, or trying to figure out life. Because what is marriage if not trying to figure out life with one another?
We’ve had many the late night discussion lately about what life is/should/could be. Figuring it out isn’t easy, but figuring it out together is much more fun. Doing that with a big bowl of gelato? Best. Idea. Ever.
Sometimes the best date nights are the ones that weren’t planned. The ones that are just sitting together on the courch talking about worries, stresses and dreams. Sometimes the mundane becomes the prettiest part of life, simply because you are in it together. Sometimes all the planning and dressing up can’t hold a candle to staying home, with kids in the next room and discussing life. Sometimes the things that sound the most boring are also the most romantic, because you are both there forever.
I think so much better with gelato, don’t you? It makes for a fun, romantic impromptu night, too!
You can find your Breyers Gelato Indulgences in your local grocery store, it comes in a clear 28.5 oz tub and $4.49-$5.99. Worth every penny! I’ve yet to find the meaning of life in my local grocery store, but if you find that in yours PLEASE let me know!
Have you tried any of the new Breyers Gelato Indulgences flavors? When was the last time you had an impromptu date night to play games or discuss the meaning of life? Do share in the comments!!!

Ahhh it has been too long since we’ve had a date night in. We’re so bad about letting our kids stay up late. MUST get them to bed earlier tonight and MUST try this chocolate caramel gelato flavor you speak of. YUM!

So good! You will love it!!!

OK, I didn’t think anything could top their raspberry cheesecake but after seeing this I had to go have some of the strawberry truffle. YUM! Pretty sure my husband ate it directly from the carton while standing in front of the open freezer ;) Cappuccino will be my next gelato purchase! We buy Breyer’s ice cream all the time (it’s one of the few that are ok for my son with Celiac disease). I love that they have “fancy grown up ice cream” (as my son calls it) now, too :)
Conclusion: date night or no date night, this gelato belongs in my freezer.

I thought the same thing! That raspberry was at the top of my list until the truffle came out. AMAZING. Though they are hard to rate against each other…they are all so good!

Yummmmmm… Maybe a date night alone treat!
