“Bedtime” is a word that strikes both terror and excitement in the heart of every parent I know. Excitement, because we know we’ll get a few precious moments to ourselves as soon as the kids are asleep. And terror because bedtime, in most families, is nothing short of an ordeal.
For babies, we struggle because it takes them forever to fall asleep and even when they fall asleep they continue to wake up most of the night.
While there is no manual for perfect sleep for every child, there are things you can do to help move the process along and get you and your little ones into a better nighttime routine. I’ve had fun partnering with Johnson’s to bring you these ideas for a more relaxed evening! These aren’t just random ideas, Johnson’s has done a lot of research and come up with a way that is a clinically proven 3-step bedtime routine.
I know when my babies were little I would’ve given just about anything to have a method that could help my baby fall asleep up to 30% faster, add to that, the face that babies who have been on this method for a week are 58% less likely to wake up during the night, and I’m super bummed I didn’t have this around when my littles were small.
I had to go the long way around and figure most of these out on my own! I thought it would be helpful to share it with you today so that you can have better sleep asap, without all the guess work!
We challenge you to take the 7-day “Tonight We Sleep” Challenge, using their proven 3-Step bedtime regimen, Bedtime products and the BEDTIME Baby Sleep app to help you get through it!
You can download the app for free, and it will help you analyze the problems in your current bedtime and sleep routines. In it you’ll find bedtime routines (with reminders so you can do things at the same time each night), sleep logs, and even released a lullaby to help your baby get in the mood for sleep.
They have also just released a lullaby to help your child settle in for the night. We loved it. So relaxing and the perfect end to the day.
To get through the three steps, start with bathtime. You can use Johnson’s® BEDTIME® bath products that have been clinically proven to help baby sleep better. They have a subtle lavender scent which relaxes baby and makes this an important step one to bedtime!
After bath, move on to step two…massage time! Gently massage Johnson’s® baby BEDTIME® lotion into your baby to help her relax her muscles and settle down for the night.
Step three is quiet time, which is an important one! Listen to a quiet lullaby, read a story or lay in a dark room and talk in hushed tones to your child. I’ve found this step to be key, even for my older son. We lay down and talk quietly for a few minutes every night, and it helps him so much.
Those three simple steps will get you on the right page for helping baby sleep. Try it for a week, and see how much your baby’s sleep improves (and yours too!).
