The other day my husband stopped me and asked what he could do to reduce my stress. It’s true, I’ve been pretty stressed the last couple days. We just got back from vacation, which was wonderful but it put me behind on work. I’m a person who likes to stay ahead with everything I do, I’m never behind! So it’s stressful to know that I don’t have the one week lead on everything that I normally do.
I told him there really wasn’t much he could do. Things will even out when school starts back up again. For right now, I’m just trying to get through the rest of the Summer balancing work, getting the kids ready for school, and keeping the kids busy.
Shortly after that conversation I talked to the owner of Pump it Up in Kingwood. They are sponsoring this conversation today, but i couldn’t wait to tell you about it! I know a lot of you are in the same boat I am. Wanting to start the school year out right, but barely finding time to get everything done.
I knew that Pump It Up had open jump times for kids. I’d taken the kids before and they love every minute of it.
What I didn’t know, is that they also have day camps. I wish I had known about this at the beginning of the Summer, but luckily they still have TWO more camps happening before school starts!
The dates are August 16, 17 and 18!
Camp lasts from 9:30-2:30 and the kids are given lunch AND a snack. They bounce on the inflatables, and even do a fun craft before coming home.
The camps are for kids at 5-12 and regularly cost $125 for the week. BUT they are offering my readers a discount of $25 so it’s only $100 for the week. That includes 5 hours of fun a day, craft supplies, snacks and lunches each day!
Those that know me well, might be surprised I’m recommending a day camp. I am one of those moms that has a VERY short list of babysitters I’ll let watch the kids.
What I saw yesterday at Pump It Up made me feel confident in recommending the Pump It Up camp as a safe and an amazing time for the kids.
First off, the employees were attentive to the kids needs and having fun with them. I’ve worked at places like this before, and I know that staffing can be an issue. What I saw yesterday blew me away.
From the manager making sure a little girl was okay when she seemed a bit winded coming off a slide, to one of the employees timing some older kids as they raced through one of the inflatables, it was amazing to see employees that cared about the kids having a good time.
I know for a fact that doesn’t happen everywhere! They were attentive and kind about enforcing rules so that everyone stayed safe. They organized kids into lines for favorite attractions so that everyone got a fair and safe chance, and they made the atmosphere fun and inviting for all of the kids.
My four year old was able to safely try out one of the biggest attractions there, even while there were tweens on it, because of the way the employees kept everyone in line. This wasn’t just special treatment for my kids either, the girl who was attending to that attraction had no idea I was a blogger or which child was mine. She was just doing her job and doing it brilliantly.
You can see the kids jumping across the balls in the photos above. They LOVED this one and waited patiently to take turns with all the other kids. So. Much. Fun! Knowing how hard it is to find good workers for a place like that, I was thrilled to see how much everyone was having fun and also getting the job done. None of the workers were on their phones and I NEVER saw two workers just hanging out/chatting, which is sadly the “norm” for most places like this and a big reason I don’t usually put my kids in camps like this.
I also heard about their cleaning regiment and saw their inspection paper. So often I take the kids to a bounce area and let them jump, but I really worry we’ll all end up sick afterwards. I’ve literally made everyone take showers immediately after we jumped because everything felt so dirty. You could tell Pump It Up was clean just by looking around, but they also had the paperwork to prove it, as you can see in the form above!
Lastly, I saw how every corner of the facility was being watched at all times. There’s no chance for sketchy things to happen with kids, and that gives this mama a lot of peace of mind.
If you live in the Houston/Kingwood area check it out! Next week’s camp will be all about the Olympics! I think it’s the perfect way to start off the first full week of Rio, with a fun day camp for the little ones.
Reservations are required. Call the facility to make your reservation – 832-777-6389 Let them know you heard about it from my blog post so you can get $25 off!
