Do you have a list of things you absolutely can’t live without? Sure, there are a lot of things that make our lives easier as moms, but what are the absolute bare-bones essentials? Here are a few of mine.
1. Sense of humor – It’s like the day I felt some movement around my rear and turned around to find my 2 year old SPOONING APPLESAUCE into the pocket of my jeans. There are really only two choices there. Lose your mind, or start laughing. Thankfully that day I chose laughter and I still chuckle when I think about it. What a way to “explore the world” with my little ones. Parenting pretty much requires that we not take ourselves too seriously. You just won’t survive it with your sanity fully in tact if you can’t laugh with the kids and laugh at yourself from time to time. I don’t always choose laughter, and I get frustrated far more than I should, but the days are always much better when I choose to find the funny parts of our day and and embrace them instead of getting frustrated. 2. Coffee – In order to survive those sleepless nights and exhausting days, coffee is basically essential. I fall more on the “I like a little coffee with my sugar” side of the debate, which is what makes exploring new Coffee – mate flavors so fun! They have two new flavors which can add a splash of Latin to your day! Abuelita® Mexican Chocolate is a silky, cinnamon-y, rich, authentic experience and La Lechera® Dulce de Leche is a creamy, dreamy, milk caramel caress from the Southern side of the continent. Click here to find what stores near you carry these yummy new flavors. Coffee-mate’s smooth, creamy taste has been perfected to bring out the flavor in your coffee. It’s “impossible not to fall in love” with these two new flavors. 3. Take-out – As much as I strive to avoid fast food and take outs, there are some days when my sense of humor has been pushed so far beyond it’s limit that take out or a nice kid-friendly buffet becomes essential to our family’s survival. Bonus points if hubby takes the kids to pick up the food with him. *win* 4. Free kisses – I’ve never kissed so many things…until I had children. “Kiss my bear night-night mommy!” and “my doll got an ouchie, she needs you to kiss it”. There’s nothing quite as humbling as leaning down to kiss…a toy. And knowing that you would give it a dozen kisses because of the way your child looks at you when you do. Yes, it is one more thing on the long list of things and people to take care of, but if it’s possible to show my kids that I love them in this way, it’s so totally worth it. 5. Perfume – Whether it’s a skipped shower because nobody slept through the night, or being soaked in spit up the moment you step out of the shower, perfume is a must for motherhood. yes, we all know spit up dries clear but unfortunately the smell does not. Yay for travel size body spray that covers all the smellier moments of motherhood. What are YOUR motherhood essentials? Coffe-mate is offering a great giveaway for my readers! Love this post! So true if it weren’t for laughter, kisses and spritz of perfume my life would be very crazy :) but I’d love it just the same!
