Sleep is something that we all desperately need! I still find it amazing all the days pre-kids when I fancied myself tired or in need of rest. It was nothing compared to sleepless nights with babies while literally providing the nourishment for another human being from my body. THAT is tiring!
I’m not one that has always gotten great sleep to begin with, so life with little ones took a toll on my already tired body. Sleep is one of those essential things that should be easy, but is sometimes so very difficult! Today I’m sharing 5 ways to get better sleep and feel well rested so we can all enjoy a little more peace at night! I’m not a doctor so this is not professional advice in any way, these are merely ways that I have found help me to sleep better!
- Reduce Stress – I know this is easier said than done, but reducing your stress is one sure way to help you sleep better at night! Even simple things like avoiding working on or thinking about stressful things immediately before bed can help you fall asleep faster and sleep better when you do!
- Eat Earlier – Try not to eat just before bed. When you eat just before sleeping your body has to work to digest the food and you won’t rest quite as well as you would if your entire body could rest together.
- Try a face mask – This is something that I tried for the first time this week and loved! I was given a Montagne Jeunesse face mask to review and use before sleeping one night. You wash your face and then apply the cloth mask while laying in bed. Leave the mask on for 10 minutes and then remove it. There will be some residue from the mask on your face, which you then rub in and leave for the night! It was so relaxing to use the mask (it smelled so good!) and when I woke up my face was soft and felt great! Definitely relaxing and the perfect way to wind down at night! It also offers a deep-down action that helps nourish, cleanse, remove impurities, keep skin healthy and vibrant as well as adds essential nutrients to your skin! Montagne Jeunesse Renew You Sleep Spa Masks are now available in US Ulta stores. The 4 masks skin treatment retails for $14.99.
- No work in the bedroom – This is a rule I’ve started enforcing for myself since moving to our new home! In our apartment I had no choice but to work on my computer in bed because there simply wasn’t room anywhere else. Now that I have a home office, I keep my work out of my bedroom. The bed is for rest, not work. It’s such a simple thing, I wondered if it would make a difference, but it truly has! I definitely recommend keeping work and rest in separate areas of the house if at all possible.
- No screens before bed – In the last few moments before sleep try to avoid computer and phone use. Do something calmer like reading a chapter of a book, listening to quiet music or lying down to think. This will get your mind and body ready to sleep!
