This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Burt’s Bees for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.
I think we can all appreciate the stay at home mom stereotype of yoga pants and a messy bun. It’s just easier sometimes, right? While my hair is much too short for a bun and I refuse to wear pants without pockets (so that rules out most of the yoga variety), I still fall into that stereotype more days than I’d like to admit. One of the things I love about my job is that it allows me to do a bit of traveling and dressing up when I travel. Which means this time last week I was texting photos to my friend asking her which outfits looked business casual enough for my conference.
We got a little silly with the texts back and forth, but what else can a mama do, trying on conference clothes between cooking mac ‘n cheese for the kids and coordinating nap schedules.
I have to admit, it’s fun to have a little “me” thrown in between everything that I do for the little ones. For me it’s my business. I love building something and working hard towards my goals. I know a lot of people wouldn’t use “business” and “fun” in the same sentence though, which probably means they are normal humans and not like me. But what is important is that you have something that’s just for you. Even if it’s the smallest of things, like putting on a little lipstick with your messy bun or your favorite pair of jeans. This week I was also introduced to burt’s bees lipsticks. Did you know they have lipstick? Because I didn’t. It smells amazing, feels amazing on and looks good too. It moisturizes for you for 8 hours WHILE YOU WEAR IT. Basically it’s as big of a multi-tasker as I am which is fantastic.
I’m not an everyday-makeup kind of girl, but it was neat to wear this for my conference and I just might put it on some at home too, because why not! It’s perfect for everyday (or date night) too if that’s your cup of tea. It’s Available at Target, so if I wasn’t already convinced, that clinched it for me. They had a ton of colors to choose from! All 100% natural and 14 shades to choose from! They are calling it a lipstick that loves you back, which, after wearing it this weekend I can totally understand why! Do you have any everyday makeup tips? What do you do that’s fun and just for you? From the simplest of things like wearing your favorite lipstick (or your new favorite, Burt’s bees, obviously) or do you make time for reading a favorite novel or finding a new hobby? Share in the comments!

I remember when I got married that an older woman told me: “even on days you’re not going anywhere or dressing for anybody, wear mascara and some shiny chap stick. It takes zero time and makes your husband think you made an effort.” I’ve used that recommendation a LOT as a mom with young kids – even if I’m wearing dirty jeans, a sweatshirt, and rumpled hair, the mascara and lip gloss makes me look alive ;) I’ll have to check out the Burt’s lipsticks – I love their chap stick and tinted chap sticks!
