Summer is almost here, and we can hardly wait! The kids have just a few more short weeks of school, we have a preschool graduation to get through, and then it’s SUMMER.
Can I just put in a little plug for sunscreen here too? Maybe it’s just me, but every year I think I don’t need it. I’ll only be outside for a couple hours, or it’s super cloudy. I somehow convince myself I don’t have to put on sunscreen. And then I end up with a sunburn. Annoying, and I’m trying to put a stop to the trend this year.
Another thing we need to talk about. Your legs. My legs. Everyone’s legs who will be anywhere near the beach this Summer. Here’s the thing. Dry shaving and then hitting the waves doesn’t cut it. I’ll admit I’ve been known to drive shave a time or two throughout the winter, but no-can-do in the Summer months. It’s time to start taking care of your legs, not only because they’ll be in shorts, but also because nicks and scratches during shaving will HURT in the salt water. Time to actually stay on top of the whole shaving thing now.
Another must when you are headed to the beach is extra towels. I take some down to the beach with us to sit on or use down there, but I keep a couple in the car too. That way you can dry of with clean towels, not ones that have been covered in sand throughout the day. It’s all about keeping the sand to a minimum!
I also try to bring plastic zip bags for my phone. That way I can pull it out to watch the time or snap some photos of the kids, but I don’t have to worry about the screen being damaged by the sand or it getting wet!
Are you Beach ready? Make sure you have these things and you’ll be good to go!
