This was such a great year! I’ve had fun slowly going through the posts written this year and pulling out the “best of”. Listed here are the most popular posts, as well as my personal favorites from each month. I hope you enjoy this little review of 2012, and if you are new here, I hope this post helps to catch you up on some fun & encouraging posts from the past few months.
January
Buying my son a baby doll – This post is about our decision to buy Little Man a baby doll to help prepare him for the birth of his baby sister. It may seem odd to buy a doll for a little boy, but we went for it!
February
I had two favorite posts in February!
Our 3 year anniversary present – I spent several months planning what to get my hubby for our 3rd anniversary. I ended up coming up with my own idea that represented how long we’ve been married – 3 years/36 months/1,095 days/26,280 hours! Hubby loved it and it is now on display in our bedroom.
Love IS hard – this post is a bit of a rant about the way our culture depicts “love”. Songs, movies, tv shows & books are all selling a cheap version of love. Real love is hard, but it is worth it!
March
When you’re not thrilled to be pregnant – Pregnancy is not always met with squeals of joy & excitement. This post talks about trusting in God’s plan, even when you weren’t wanting to be pregnant.
April
Patience – If there is one thing we learn from motherhood, it’s patience. Reflections on learning to be patient with my son, and how it’s teaching me so much about God’s grace and patience with me.
May
Tantrums and Grace – When Little Man was about 18 months old he hit the tantrum stage in full force. He was quite the handful to deal with everyday, but I learned a lot through the experience, about myself, my little boy, parenting and most of all, God’s grace.
Mommy drama (Please excuse my rant) – mama drama, it’s all over the internet and even creeps up in real life. I’m tired of it, and couldn’t keep my rant to myself ;)
June
10 reasons I’m ready to be done with pregnancy – I wrote this post when I was 8 months pregnant and very much ready to meet my baby girl.
Preparing big brother for the new baby – This post is a detailed list of 5 things we did to prepare Little Man for the birth of his baby sister. Looking back, I’m really glad we took the time to do all of these things and I feel like it helped prepare our little boy for the adjustment of his baby sister joining our family. Little Man was only 21 months old when his baby sister was born.
July
What is truth – This post is about a lesson my dear counselor taught me, to focus on truth, and not let emotions get the best of me!
40 weeks 5 days – This post was written just hours before the Princess was born. I was lamenting the fact that I was still not in labor, even though I’d been having labor-like contractions on and off for a month. Little did I know Princess would arrive the evening I wrote this pregnancy update!
August
To all the random strangers, please choose your words carefully – As soon as I started going out in public with both of my kiddos at the same time I was overwhelmed with the number of comments I would get from strangers. It seemed every one had something to say about the fact that I had TWO entire kids. It’s a silly thing, but it gets old fast.
September
How to entertain a sick toddler – It’s so hard when kiddos are sick. It’s exhausting for both mother and child. Toddlers can be a huge challenge when sick because the minute they start to feel better they will try to go play and end up getting tired out and making themselves sick again. I wrote this list of ideas of calm play to keep little ones resting and entertained while sick.
Comparing kids – Comparison seems to be something we all struggle with as mothers. I can’t count the number of times I’ve heard (and said) the words “compared to other kids…” Reflections on this phrase and how it affects us and our kids.
October
Making it through hard days – Fall is often a difficult time of year for me. In this post I shared some things that I do to get through hard days.
November
Discontent – About my struggle to be content where we are.
December
18 inches – I shared this one on the 4 year anniversary of the day hubby and I met. Sharing a bit of the story about how we met. the post is inspired by a current country song called “18 inches”.
