Many bloggers share their personal goals for the year on their sites, but this year Blogging on the Side is hosting a link up where bloggers can share their blogging goals for the year! It’s a fun place to link up and support one another, so I decided I would share mine here & join in the link up there as well!!!
- To Keep It On The Side – I love blogging, and it is my job, but I always want to keep the perspective that it is not my life. I don’t want to blog at the expense of my children or marriage, so I want to continue to be intentional with my time spent online this year, even as my blog grows and changes.
- Publish My Ebook – This is my goal for the month of January! I want to publish my book, and sell 20 copies before February 1st.
- To Double My Average Daily Page views – It always feels weird to talk about numbers, but they are very important for the business side of blogging, and for the writing side as well. The higher the numbers means more people that I’m encouraging and more opportunities for growth in the future!
- To Double My Income – I feel so blessed to be able to make a job out of something that I love doing, and it’s always fun for me to set crazy goals like this. In 2013 I met an “earning goal” that I had in my mind as a long-term goal, something I thought I might be able to accomplish in 2014 or 2015. So this year, I’m shooting higher! Even if it’s just for one month, I’d like to double my highest earning month of 2013 sometime this year.
- To Start a Newsletter – This has been on my mind for awhile now, since the only subscription option I currently have is for each blog post. I know that can be tedious for readers, especially since I post daily and sometimes multiple times a day! So, I want to start a monthly or twice a month newsletter for subscribers!
- To Attend BE Conference in Galveston – I attended Blog Elevated in Houston this past year, and LOVED it. It was amazing being around so many other bloggers, and I learned so much! I hope to be able to attend again this year!
- To Land a Book Deal (or choose to self-publish my book) – I began working on this in November of 2012, I completed my book proposal in May of 2013, and I’ve been looking for a literary agent ever since! I would love to land the book deal this year and publish my first print-book, in the same year that I self-publish my first ebook!
These are my main blogging goals for 2014! I would love to read some of yours!!! You can join the link up here! It will re-open every 6 months so we can check in on each other and see how the goals are coming along.

Great goals! I hope you reach them all. I am trying to really increase my views too… seems like a mountain right now (excruciatingly slow!) but I believe in time I can! :) Book deals – aahh!! My future goal too! :)
Paula says
Slow and steady wins the race!!! :) YOu can do it!!!
Melissa Cohen says
Great goals! I think mine probably mirror yours – I’m seriously considering doing an ebook based on my blog, in addition to continuing to try to get an agent for my book proposal as well. I’m working on building platform as well, adding pictures to my posts and publishing the link in the comments – and saw an immediate difference in the number of views :-) Thanks for all your suggestions!
Paula says
That’s awesome!!! :)
Val - Corn, Beans, Pigs & Kids says
Great goals! Good luck accomplishing all of them. How are you going to work on doubling your pageviews? I’d love to increase my pageviews and have a couple ideas on how to try to but would love to hear your plan.
Paula says
I actually had several people ask me that so I wrote a whole post on it on my other blog (that’s more for blogging tips)
You can see it here:

What great goals! I love that you addressed so many parts of blogging- work/life balance, income, traffic, and using your blog as a platform. Can’t wait to see you at Blog Elevated Conference!

You have some really great and very obtainable goals. Self-publishing is definitely the way go if don’t get the book deal that you want. It takes a bit more work, but if you link up and connect with the right book review bloggers to really get it out there is can be very rewarding and you can have just as much success as you would if it was published traditionally. I wish you all the best of luck though!

normally wouldn’t be able to find such great content as this on other sites.
Action plan is a god tip.
Thanks

Those are fantastic goals! Do you have monthly goals as well?
Paula says
These were last year’s goals…but in a way yes. I gauged them in 3 month increments.
