I know with school starting soon, it can feel like Summer is practically over. The reality is, though, there are still weeks and weeks of warm weather fun.
Just because the kids will be occupied during the week, doesn’t mean the weekend parties and barbecues should end. And I’m going to give you two solid reasons why this Caprese Skewer recipe is PERFECT for this time of year:
- You’ve exhausted all your other go-to bbq side dishes.
- In many parts of the country, tomatoes are just now (or soon) ready to be harvested.
Not to mention, there is not much better in life that the delicious flavors of tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella. On a stick no less! And the best part is, you can’t screw these up. There’s no over-cooking, under-cooking, or mis-measuring an ingredient.
How to Make Caprese Skewers
Ingredients
- It’s a super simple process. All you need is:
- 1 Pint Cherry Tomatoes
- 12 oz Fresh Marinated Mozzarella Balls
- 1 Bunch Fresh Basil
- Skewers of Your Choice – (I really like the bamboo skewers with the knot at the top.)
- Balsamic Vinegar (optional)
Directions
Then all you do is skewer a tomato, a piece of basil, and a mozzarella ball.
You could drizzle balsamic vinegar over the top for a little extra flavor it you wanted to, but not necessary.
Now prepare to wow the guest, while you chuckle silently at how easy your appetizer was to make!
- 1 Pint Cherry Tomatoes – Get Heirloom if you want a color variety
- 12 oz Fresh Marinated Mozzarella Balls
- 1 Bunch Fresh Basil
- Balsamic Vinegar (optional)
- Wash the tomatoes and basil
- Depending on the size of the basil, tear in half if the leaves are really big
- Stick on the skewers the tomato, basil, mozzarella
- Drizzle with Balsamic Vinegar as a finishing touch if wanted, but not necessary
These would also be really awesome as an appetizer or side for the Panko Baked Spaghetti Squash!
