Preschool seemed to sneak up on me. I feel like my kids were just babies and toddlers, running around my home destroying everything they could get their hands on. But this year they will both be putting on their backpacks and heading off to preschool together.
Last year was my son’s first year, but this time around he’ll be taking his sister by the hand and leading her off into the world of preschool as well.
So how do you choose the preschool that is best for your kids?
There are several things to look at, taking your own child’s personality into consideration as well as what the school has to offer.
Schools like the Children’s Courtyard pay special attention to where a child is developmentally and meet them there. Each class is crafted around where specific milestones and stages that a child has met or is expected to meet in the next year. It’s a comprehensive way to get your child ready for elementary school.
They slowly learn things like adjusting to transitions and developing routines. For older 4 year olds or young 5s there are even special programs that do pre-for-kinder!
Preschool is a time to not only get children ready for elementary by slowly introducing a structured school environment, but it’s also a great way for them to find out that learning is fun!
After a year of preschool that was one of the things I was most happy with about my son’s experience at his school. Although some days he felt like the classes were long, all in all he loved school and thought it was fun to attend and learn new things.
I never want his love for learning to go away, so it is important to me to find a preschool that will foster that in him.
