When was the last time you logged off of social media, left your phone in your bag and just spent screen free time connecting with friends (or your spouse)?
This week, we partnered with Pinot’s Palette as part of their Disconnect to Reconnect Challenge.
I had never done art at Pinot’s Palette before, so I was excited to check it out. First, I used the store locater to find lots of locations near me. Then, I was able to scroll through the calendar to choose a painting I liked and schedule a class!
How it works, is you go in to the store and they provide a blank canvas for you and ALL the paints/brushes you could need. An instructor stands at the front of the room to guide the class through the painting. The instructor shows you step by step how to create your masterpiece.
If I can give you one piece of advice…it’s to TRUST YOUR INSTRUCTOR. I’m not artistic in this way, so sometimes the instructions seemed strange and I couldn’t really see how what we were doing in that moment would lead to the finished product. But I trusted her…even when I was nervous.
Another thing that helps is the wine. They let you bring your own bottles to share with friends and even provide wine glasses so that you don’t get paint on yours. It was relaxing to sip and paint with a friend!
Another nice touch is that everything is ready for you when you arrive. From the paints you need, to the paint brushes it’s all waiting for you to come in and relax with them. Classes are usually 2-3 hours (it will tell you how long yours is when you sign up) and at the end, you’ll have a whole painting done by YOU to hang in your home somewhere.
Mine is going in my office somewhere, when I finally decide what I want WHERE on the walls. So many ideas for that room, but pulling things together is never my strong point. So for now, I have a stack of things to hang on the walls and no idea where to put them all.
I am still quite proud of this painting! Since my artistic ability normally extends to clumsily drawn stick figures, seeing this come to life was fun! And doing while reconnecting with a friend was even better!
You can use their store locator to find the Pinot’s Palette closest to you and stop in for your own painting session!
It’s super fun (and easy on the budget too!). They have date night paintings, as well as ones families can do together on the weekends!
I loved this challenge and reminder from Pinot’s Palette that sometimes all it takes to reconnect is disconnecting from the internet for a little bit!
