Spring is in the air, and we couldn’t be more excited. It’s true that this time of year means everything in Houston gets covered in a yellow layer of pollen, but all the pollen in the world is worth it when the weather finally starts to warm up and we’re able to go outside and explore again!
With Easter just a month away, I’m starting to think of traditional Easter foods like ham, and try to figure out if we’re doing an egg hunt this year (I’m voting no…the kids are voting yes…)
In celebration of Spring I decided to try something new for our afternoon snack. I wanted to get in a practice run or two before Easter, since this would be the PERFECT thing to do with leftover Easter ham!
Yesterday I went to Walmart to get some Pillsbury™ crescent rolls to make these ham and cheese snack bundles and they were a HUGE hit. I know I’ll be making them all year round from now on!
Ham and cheese Snack Bundles
- Pillsbury™ Refrigerated Original Crescent Rolls 8 ct 8.0 oz Can (Get it at Walmart!)
- 1 cup cubed ham (I used pre-cubed from the deli section this time, but leftover Easter ham will be perfect in a few weeks!)
- 2 cheese sticks
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon parsley
- 1 clove garlic (minced)
Melt the butter in a small dish, add the minced garlic and parsley and stir.
Cut the cheese sticks into 8 even pieces.
Unroll the Pillsbury™ Refrigerated Original Crescent Rolls on a non stick baking sheet. Add one cheese piece and one spoonful of ham cubes to the large end of each crescent roll.
Fold in the edges of the crescent and then roll, forming a small bundle with no openings. Your cheese will spill out the sides if you skip this step!
With a cooking brush, spread melted butter mixture on each ham and cheese bundle.
The butter, garlic topping becomes flakey and flavorful on top of the crescent roll – so good!
Lastly, bake according to the instructions on the Pillsbury™ Refrigerated Original Crescent Rolls 8 ct 8.0 oz Can.
Remove from the oven, and let cool.
These are great to eat when they are hot and the cheese is melted to perfection, but they are also great if you save them, too!
You can take a bag of these to sporting events for a tasty snack, or even around town as you explore the city with your family.
My oldest asked if I could start making these for him all the time for after school, and with a recipe this easy, I don’t see why not!
I can’t wait for you to try our ham and cheese snack bundle recipe, either with ham from Walmart or leftover Easter ham. I think you’ll love it!
Don’t forget to stop by your local Walmart for the Pillsbury Crescent Rolls and everything else you need to make your Easter dinner a success!
