I have received information from the makers of TYLENOL®. The opinions stated are my own. This is a sponsored post.
There are a thousand good reasons that the holidays can be hard for people. Sometimes seeing all the families come together both in real life and in every television commercial ever, is just plain hard. When your family doesn’t look like that, or you aren’t with them for the holidays the stereotypical “perfect family” hurts a little more. Makes you see clearly who is missing from your life and leave you wishing you had something that seemingly every one else does.
I loved watching the Tylenol® how we family video. It depicts all kids of families, from adoptive families to just two people sitting together celebrating. It’s a reminder that family doesn’t look the same way for everyone, and that’s okay.
For me, family is about embracing the ones that are there, and choose to be in your life day in and day out. The biological family members that do, and the friends who have become like family through the years.
It’s about being happy and confident in the ones that love you and the ones you love. Even when it doesn’t look like every one else’s family.
This week, my kids and I are off to visit my best friends, who have been my family now for almost 20 years. We’ve been through the very hardest and very happiest times of life together, and even though it doesn’t look like every one else’s family, we’re family in our own way.
They moved to Europe this year and we’re off to see them for the Christmas season. We won’t be together long, but the days we have are priceless.
PS the kids and I are packing our bags and heading out tomorrow… if you want to follow along with us make sure you are following me on Instagram! @paula_rollo
I’m hopping on a plane with my two kiddos and that backpack. The kids first plane ride ever will be over an ocean, and yes it’s likely that this will be the most tiring 10 days ever. But it will be so much fun, and we absolutely can’t wait!
When we get home we will have a whirlwind of Christmas celebrations with my sister and my husband’s family. We’ll hop around from event to event but for this one special week, we’re stopping and taking the time for our family that doesn’t look like every one else’s. Because this is how we family.
To celebrate all families, the TYLENOL® brand created the #HowWeFamily program which believes that family is not about who you love but how.
Be sure to watch the video…I dare you not to tear up! It’s so sweet!
