The first two days (at least) of school have been cancelled.
We’ve been under flash flood warning since last night at 4am and every few hours the phone will buzz and tell us that the flash flood warning has been extended for several more hours.
We’re watching footage of favorite parks under water. And roads we use every single day have been rendered impassable.

It’s all very surreal.
Thanks so much to every one who has checked in and asked about us. Our house is safe. Our kids are safe. But much of our city is under water. This is crazy.
If you are in the middle of Harvey with us a few tips…
The best weather updates I’ve found have been from Space City Weather. Very detailed, but not sensational or terrifying. They have a Facebook page as well.
Officials are saying be sure to go to your roof not your attic if your house starts to flood suddenly.
Make sure you go on your phone and turn emergency alerts ON. Go in to settings, then notifications and then scroll to the bottom to turn on the emergency notifications.
These are loud and obnoxious and annoying. But they will wake you up in case of tornados or high water in your area so you can do what you need to do.
You can also go in to your settings and turn on low power mode. This will help preserve your battery in case of power outages.
This is a very weird week. And we have more rain to come. Our home and yard are totally fine, which makes it seem all the more surreal that there is such destruction and devastation mere minutes away.
Please keep our city in your prayers. Especially the many homeless people who live downtown and under bridges that are completely under water. There is so much to be done, but the rain needs to stop first and it looks like that won’t be happening for a few days.
