looking back on 2012 |
Last year I made a list of goals for the new year and shared them here. Today, I’ve gone back through the list to see if I achieved my goals and review what I still need to work on. Later this week I will be sharing my goals for 2013 :)
Read the Bible & pray more – I have definitely improved in this area over the past year, but I still need to keep working on it! This fall I started attending a Biblestudy called BSF and I Have LOVED studying Genesis with my group and meeting with them weekly. If you are looking for a Bible study to join, visit this site and find the BSF group in your area. They are literaelly worldwide, and they are also an interdenominational group :)
To be more patient – I think I have improved a lot in this area this year! Especially now that I’m not pregnant anymore and my hormones are much more calm.
To avoid things that I know will aggravate me – This goal came about because I was finding myself seeking out things that I knew would frustrate me, just to be frustrated! I will be honest, I haven’t always avoided the things that I know will upset me, sometimes I just can’t “look away” so to speak, but I am learning not to let those things bother me as much anymore, so that is very helpful. I call this one a win!
Keep our house cleaner – My first failure on the list. I have been working on this, but I can’t honestly say I’ve been successful, at least not for the majority of the time. I am still trying to settle into a routine with a toddler and an infant. It seems that every time things are becoming normal again something will change and I will be left to try and compensate for the new stage that one or both of the kiddos have hit. Keeping the house cleaner/more organized will definitely be on my list of goals for 2013!
Finish “what did you expect” (marriage book) – It took all year, but I finished it! This book is by far the best marriage book I have ever read. It is so thorough and thought provoking! You can’t just read through it in a hurry. I had to take pauses to think about what I was reading and how I could apply it to my daily life, so it took me a long time to finish. In my opinion it is a must read for all married couples!
Continue focusing on being a better wife – I did focus on this a lot this year, but it will still be going on my list for 2013 as well! Actually, becoming a better wife will probably be on every list for the rest of my life
Be a better mama – I feel like I have learned and grown a lot in this past year of motherhood, but this is another goal that will perpetually be on my lists. I never want to stop focusing on being a more loving mama to my sweet little ones.
Blog as much as I can – With over 130 posts published this year I would have to say I have succeeded at this goal! ;) I had wondered what blogging would look like once I had 2 kiddos on my hands, but thankfully I never had to stop. I’ve been able to find the time to keep writing and I am so thankful that my hubby helps me make time for it. I love writing and I never want to stop!
Birth another healthy baby – Check! ;) On July 29th I completed this task 10 minutes after arriving at the hospital. (read that story here)
Finish the several craft projects I’m currently working on and those I that I have planned – I’m happy to say I succeeded at this one! Here are links to posts I did about the different projects. There is one more piece that I did for our master bedroom, but I have not blogged about it yet. (coming soon)
our 3 year anniversary gift
My display area for letters from my hubby
“excuse the mess” sign and display area for the kiddos’ artwork
What about you? Do you write down yearly goals/resolutions? What were some of your goals this year?

That list is really impressive, especially with toddler AND an infant! I applaud you and your success in 2012, may it be even greater in 2013! Blessings to you!

I’m writing down business goals this year, but I don’t think I’ll write down personal goals. If I do I’ll have to revisit them monthly to keep myself accountable!

I’m a fan of goals. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Every year I set a goal to read through the Bible in a year. Some years it takes me until March of the following year, but rather than feeling bad, I think, “if I hadn’t set the goal, I never would have tried. And reading the Bible through in 15 months is certainly better than not reading it through at all.” Thanks for sharing your successes (and failures) I’m sure they’ll inspire many :) Lori, from Hungry for God; Staving for Time.
