This week we totally broke the “don’t play with your food” rule, and we had fun doing it! We partnered with Voortman cookies to do this fun activity!
We were challenged to come up with our own creation using wafer cookies! The kids were so excited, so we headed off to Walmart to grab some cookies! There are lots of options. You can get: Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Lemon, Cookies ‘n Creme, Peanut Butter, Coconut and Mocha! We grabbed the vanilla and started brainstorming.
Everyone voted that we make a log cabin, so that’s what we did, using frosting to hold everything together.
We stacked them in a staggering way so that the structure was a little bit sturdier and then cut out a door. It was nice that the wafer stayed together, even when we cut it with a knife.
You can get some Voortman wafers of your own to build a structure and enter the Voortman Wafter contest. It runs from May 2nd 2016 until June 13, 2016 at noon EDT. The contest is open to all residents of the United States (excluding AZ, CO, MD, NE, ND, and PR) and Canada (excluding Quebec).
Then, submit a photo of your structure to Inspired By Voortman to enter the contest. Entrants are allowed one entry per day for a chance to win $2,500!
You can enter a structure or even a wafer recipe. We had so much fun with ours we used them in a bowl of ice cream too.
I wanted to make chocolate milkshakes with wafer bites in them, but our blender broke! Some one else can take the idea and submit it though, because it would be so yummy!
Be sure to grab your Voortman Wafters and enter to win this Summer! It’s a super fun project to do with the kids! (They were coming up with their own creations all afternoon too).
