I will be honest, taxes intimidate me a lot! I’m thankful that my husband takes care of the taxes in our family, so I don’t have to worry about the numbers, or figuring out what counts as a deduction on our taxes, and what expenses do not.
However, I do know that there are several ways that you can deduct specific expenses from your taxes, to (hopefully) get a bigger tax return, or avoid having to owe money after you file. I’m sharing one of those ways with you today!
I recently came across this graphic and I thought it was very interesting! I had no idea that some moving expenses can be deducted from taxes!

Knowing what expenses are deductible, and filing correctly, can really help you to save money! I found this page on the IRS website that explains in more detail how the moving deductions work. About.com also had a great article that explains how to qualify for this deduction, so you can figure out if it is something you can deduct next time you move for work!
Moving is never cheap, so I thought this was great info to pass along, in case any of you have relocated for your jobs in the past year, or will be relocating soon. Be sure to check the official IRS website to find out all the details about tax deductions, and to discover what deductions you might be missing!
Do you file taxes for your family? Have you moved for work recently, or is this a deduction you might be able to use in the future?

Good to know. I hope to move across country at some point, so at least I might get a break somewhere. :) Thanks Paula.
