Honestly, I love the idea of candy/carmel apples. The reality however, is a bit more complex. I’m not a fan of huge messes all over my face, or candy stuck in my teeth, so this makes the whole carmel apple experience a bit of a challenge. This year, I wanted to share the joys of carmel apples with my little guy, but somehow pull it off without having to clean up a massive caramel mess all over his face, hair, hands and everything else that makes up his being. Which is why I came up with this idea for mini carmel apples instead!
What you need:
- Apples
- Carmel sauce (I bought the kind that goes on ice cream)
- Chocolate sauce
- Jelly or other dipping sauces
- an ice cube tray
- a knife for slicing apples
All you have to do is chop up the apples then, pour the dipping sauces into the outer portions of the ice cube tray. Then place the apple slices in the squares filling up the rest of the tray, and serve!
My son had so much fun being “in control” of the dip and apples and chowing down on the yummy sweetness. I enjoyed the lack of mess all over his face at the end of it, and the fact that this ended up being a super-easy fall snack for every one!
Have you ever done candy or carmel apples with your kids? Want to try it in mini version?

What a great idea- my kids will love this!
I also wanted to let you know how much I enjoy the blog. So much wisdom from such a young mama! You’re doing a great job. Thanks for all the tips and encouragement.

That is a great idea, and that way he gets to eat lots of flavors! I am all about the least possible messy way! I also found this great idea on Pinterest. You get like a little scooper and make little apple pieces and put a toothpick in the piece and dip it in the caramel and make a little caramel apple! If you want to know more about how to do it, I have a link to it on my page http://adelemamabrown.blogspot.com/2013/10/fall-party-inspirations.html?m=1

Love it! I just bought a bunch of apples hoping to do caramel apples, because I love the flavor, but I have been dreading the mess of making and eating them. Weird, huh? I like this idea much better.

What a cute and fun idea! Especially for little ones who would have a hard time taking a bite of a caramel apple in the regular way.
