I recently found out about the Walmart’s new Every Little Step website for mothers sponsored by Huggies®. I spent some time on the site several times in the past week and it seems like such a good resource for new moms!
One of the main reasons I found it useful was because it’s reliable information. When I had my first baby I remember rushing off to do an internet search for every symptom or imaginary issue that popped into my brain! This did more to increase my worries and fears as a new mother than it did to relieve them. It seems like regardless of what I’d type into the search engine there would be a number of people telling me that whatever I was searching was a cause of obesity in children, or SIDS or short attention spans or anything else scary that you can imagine. Every little thing!
Yes, I want information, but I’d like it without the dose of judgement and fear that are associated with a lot of baby sites. This is actually one of the reasons I started blogging myself. I wanted to be a voice of reason and encouragement in the midst of so many “have tos” and “must nots” in the mothering community. I have since come across several great sites like this one from walmart, and a lot of great bloggers sharing their experiences and encouragements for new (and more experienced) moms. It takes some looking, but you can find good info among all the scary info!
Walmart’s new site shares lots of fun baby advice both for new mamas and for grandparents or new aunts/uncles as well. It shares articles about saving money with baby, planning a baby shower or choosing the perfect gift! Definitely a fun site to check out for all the baby essentials! Be sure to check it out and let me know which is your favorite article there.
What about you? Have you ever made the mistake of doing an online search about something baby-related and scaring yourself? What are your go-to sites about babies?
