Today’s fabulous Star of bethlehem Christmas Ornament Craft is brought to you
by Rosilind from a little R & R
Every year I make a Christmas ornament with my kids.
Okay, my oldest is only just 4 in January, but this is the 3rd ornament I’ve done with him and I love it.
Best of all, he loves it. He is so proud of himself!
This is very easy to do. Set up only takes a few minutes and it is the perfect craft for the toddler with a short attention span (I have two of those, by the way).
But it is versatile for the older children who like to be extra creative and take their time making something super-special (So, I’ll give you some alternative ideas for the creative ones).
You will need:
A cookie cutter – or star pattern
Yellow paper
Stars cut out of cardboard
Foil circle cutouts
Glue
And thread or ribbon to hang the ornament
Before we assembled the star, I let them color the yellow cut outs. They’re super little, so this is always so fun (for about 2 minutes).
If you have a super-creative child, you can give them buttons, beads, glitter glue, or even sugar cookie sprinkles. Let them be as creative as they would like to be.
Just be sure to give them only one star and remind them to keep the center open for the foil circle.
Older children may want to outline the foil circle with glitter or sprinkles. Encourage them to be creative! On the opposite star, write: “My Birthday Gift to Jesus is Me!” I also wrote their name, age and year we made the craft, as I do each year.
So that when they look in the foil star, they can see their gift to Jesus – their own reflection.
Then, glue each yellow star on either side of the cardboard cut out.
Older children may want to line the edges with a ribbon or scrap book paper. You can punch a hole at the top to attach the ribbon or thread, I glued the thread in between the layers.
And now you have a keepsake ornament, hand made by your precious little!
