This Sunday (Easter) is my 23rd birthday. I have been thinking about what “just for fun” post I should do for my b-day and I finally decided to do my 30 before 30 list. I had so much fun writing it all out, it was funny to me how many of my goals have to do with (1) the kids/family and (2) writing; very easy to see where my passions lie!
Here’s my 30 before 30/things I want to accomplish in the next 7 years ;)
The list is in no particular order.
1. Buy a House July 2014!
2. Finish my book proposal – Achieved May 2013 (started querying agents in May as well!)
3. Finish wiring my first book – Finished it! Now for editing and formatting for ebook sales!
4. Publish my first book (and hopefully more than one!) When Baby Becomes Big Sibling published Jan. 8th 2014
5. Take an overnight trip with the hubby & no kids (I’ve gone on several kid-free trips for work, but none with my husband yet!)
6. Go on a family Vacation Galveston, June 2014
7. Take the kids to Disney
8. Potty Train both kids – 2015
9. Private family goal (will share details if/when it’s completed!)
10. Personal goal (again, will share if/when it happens!)
11. Find ways to actively support young/teen moms in my community
12. Remain debt free (Aside from home mortgage when we buy a house, though it would be awesome if we could somehow have that paid off by 30 as well!)
13. Attend a blogging conference – Blog Elevated, September 2013
14. Meet up a blogger friend in real life (or more than one!) – Met many Bloggy friends at Blog Elevated September 2013
15. Go camping with the family (this is/will be a bigger deal than it seems – I will write more about it when it happens)
16. Learn to speak/understand Spanish decently
17. Donate my hair to locks of love or a similar charity (good incentive to actually grow it out long!)
18. Survive my first 9 years of motherhood (crazy! I will have a 9 year old when I turn 30!!!)
19. Continue sending Christmas cards/letters out every year (2013 2014)
20. Do family pictures at least once a year (2013, 2014, 2015)
21. Publish my free e-book for subscribers to my blog Subscribe above! July 2014
22. Become a paid author/writer – Achieved in April 2013 when my post about child abuse prevention was syndicated on Blogher
23. Touch the Pacific Ocean (I lived on an island in the Pacific for 3 years and I’ve never touched it!)
24. Attend the Houston Rodeo (I’ve lived in Houston since I was 2 and I’ve never been!) Hubby and I went to Go Tejano Day at the Houston Rodeo in March 2014!
25. Take the kids on a trip to a foreign country (hopefully multiple times) – 2015 Vienna, Austria
26. Speak at a Conference – 2015 (and hosted one in 2016!)
27. Make an awesome 2 tiered cake with homemade fondant
28. Have a small garden with the kids – achieved in April 2013
29. Publish something in a magazine – Achieved June 2013 Paragraph published in Christ Centered Home Magazine.
30. To still be loving life and making goals at age 30!
Do you have a ’30 before 30′ list or bucket list? what’s on yours?
Hannah says
I don’t have one, but if I did, it would look almost exactly like yours! I may be borrowing this :)
Paula says
fun! be sure to share it with me on FB or something if you do it so I can come see! :D
Faith @ Artistic31Mama says
Love this!! You have inspired me to make a 30 before 30 list too! What a great idea. :-) Mine will have to be short-term goals since I just turned 27 and only have less than three years! :-) You have some really great goals!
Paula says
oh yay! be sure to let me know when you make it! I would love to read it :) You can still do a lot in 3 years!!!! and you could always do a 35 before 35 if you want more time! hehe
Kassi @ Truly Lovely says
What a great list!!! We have some similar goals…. things like attending a blogger conference paying off debt. They say if you write your goals down you’re more likely to actually do them, so here’s to completing our 30 Before 30 lists together!!! Let’s just say I have a few less years than you do though…. hahaha
Paula says
fun! maybe we can meet at a blogging conference some year and cross that off both our lists at the same time! that would be so cool :P
Kelly says
Happy early Birthday!
Hope you have a great day!
xx

Thanks Kelly!

oh I love this list!! donating my hair and buying a house are on the top of my list too!
Paula says
nice! :) sigh we should definitely live closer to each other…
Kate says
Ha! It’s okay! I had a 10 year old when I turned 30! :-) Great list!
Paula says
that’s awesome!! he will turn 10 while I’m still 30, but he will only be 9 on my actual birthday ;)
Ally Ferguson says
1) I want to go to disney too!!! Hubs and I are hoping to go just us two one day….and then take the future kiddos when they get older. 2) HOW COULD YOU BE SO CLOSE TO THE PACIFIC OCEAN AND NOT TOUCH IT?! You see, I am an ocean loooover. I love love love the beach…and the Pacific ocean is my favorite. At least out of that and the Atlantic ocean…the only two I know. The Pacific is so much prettier to me! Happy goal achieving!
Paula says
1. that would be so fun! I went to disney when I was 5, but I’ve never been back. I would love to go again though!
2. I didn’t really have $ to go exploring…living on a tight missionary budget. lol
I really want to make that one happen though! I’ve seen it plenty of times, I just need to stick my toes in it now! lol
Carrie says
Wow! What a great list of goals!
Paula says
Thank you Carrie
Erica {let why lead} says
Great list! I love all the writing! And yes, you are definitely going to have to tell us why you never touched the Pacific while living on an island!
Also, you’re only 23! I can’t believe that! You are wise beyond your years. :) (Not that I’m some sage old person. At least, I hope not! I’m 28.)
Paula says
haha thanks Erica. No real glamorous reason for not touching the ocean, I was just living on a tight missionary budget and couldn’t really afford to go sight seeing ya know? haha yep, only 23 *blush* thanks for the compliment <3
Kassi @ Truly Lovely says
You are on a roll!!! Congrats on syndication and getting your article published! That’s so exciting!!!
Kristine @the foley fam says

I’m so impressed by how much you’re already achieved! I feel like such a slacker. I turned 29… for the third time this past July (yes, that really means 31), and I love this idea! I’m kind of tempted to make a 40 by 40 list, but the number “29 for the 11th time” is making me feel a little sick. Maybe a 35 before 35. That’s not quite as scary (or vomit inducing haha).
