I love selecting gifts for people, I will spend days contemplating what will be the perfect gift for each person on my list, and anniversary gifts are no different! Earlier this year Hubby and I celebrated 4 wonderful years of marriage! I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to get him this year. For our 3 year anniversary I made his a huge, elaborate sentimental gift that is now on display in our room. I knew that I would not be able to “outdo” last year’s gift in craftiness, so I decided to go a different route this year.
Instead of getting him one BIG gift, I chose to get him 4 small ones. Our anniversary fell on a Saturday this year so I started the celebration on Wednesday! I gave him the first of his small gifts and said that it was “our anniversary day 1” and explained that this year we were celebrating for 4 days, one for each year we’ve been married thus far.
Hubby had no problem celebrating (and receiving gifts) for 4 days straight, and I had so much fun picking out little gifts for him. We are trying to save as much money as we can right now, so this was a perfect way to celebrate and save at the same time!
Day 1 – his favorite candy bar (he has expensive taste in chocolate!)
Day 2 – an expansion for one of his favorite games
day 3 – “thank you” frame (pictured below)
day 4 – a card/letter from me!
The gift for day number three was pinterest inspired. I first saw the idea for an “I love you because” frame here, and so I copied her tutorial, but added some little twists of my own. Instead of writing I love you because… I decided to put “thank you for” and try to write something new every day for which I wanted to thank my hubby. It’s been fun writing on it (though, I don’t always remember to do it every day) and it’s on display in our bathroom where he can see it every morning as he gets ready for work. Super easy and fun to do! I used a picture frame that I already had on hand, a plain white sheet of paper, some finger paints (for the heart) and a sharpie for the lettering on the paper.
When I write new messages I use dry erase markers straight on the glass! so fun!
On our actual anniversary we were able to celebrate together as a family and take some pictures (my favorite thing to do EVER). We went to a photo booth on our first anniversary, and it was really fun to go back and take pictures at the same place this year, but with our kiddos. Amazing how much has changed in the last 3 years!
After our trip to the mall photo booth we took the kiddos home for nap and hubby went grocery shopping for me (AWESOME anniversary gift!) :D He came home with a yummy chocolate cake for me. He knows me so well!
Our celebrations continued one day after our anniversary with a special date lunch without the kiddos.
4 days of gifts to celebrate the 4 years we’ve been married already & 1 date lunch to celebrate the first day of our 5th year of marriage.
It just keeps getting better.
What do you and your hubby do to celebrate anniversaries? I’m always looking for more ideas!!!!

I’m going to be doing a post about this next month, but the best anniversary gift I ever received was a rose BUSH, that my husband ordered for me from FTD when he was in afghanistan. I planted it in our front yard so I get to pass it every day and watch it GROW! It’s almost 2 feet high now! If we move somewhere with a house I want to take it with us, but I may have to leave it behind. If so, I will try to replace it.
It’s neat though because I take pictures of it all the time whenever it blooms. :)

You did a great job. I especially love the photo booth idea! For us we go out together, we try to make our anniversary extra special, sometimes we go away for a weekend or go to an extra special restaurant. But your ideas are so much more personal…. Now I’m thinking….

sounds like a special celebration. I have to say I haven’t seen a Sacher Torte here in the U.S. only in Europe. You must have a European bakery near by.
Bless you,
Gail

My wife and I recently celebrated our five year wedding anniversary, and I wanted to get something made of wood, since that is the tradition for the fifth anniversary. I found a company online called Unique Custom Products that offered tons of customized wooden gift items. I chose a wooden jewelry box and engraved the beautiful alder wood lid with our names and the date. Also, inside of the box cover they imprinted our wedding picture. It is beautiful and my wife loves it. I am so happy I called them. if you need a wood gift for your 5th…call Ormond at (877) 282-9591www.woodinvitations.com

Oh, I LOVE this! Our anniversary is usually compacted with two other very special days. We were married just 2 days after Christmas and 3 days after my husband’s birthday so we generally try to take the last 10 days of the year off and go on some sort of excursion. Just him and me. It’s a beautiful thing!
