The new school year is fast approaching which means parents everywhere are rushing to stock up on essentials, grab last minute must-haves, and implement a morning routine that won’t make every day a struggle, getting the kids off to school.
As we hurry and rush around trying to get what we need for each child, it’s easy to forget about the kitchen. Once again we’ll be packing lunches and requiring fast breakfasts that can just get the kids out the door at a decent time.
I’m seeing the sheer brilliance of one-stop shopping more than ever before as we start prepping for back-to-school.
We can go to Walmart and get everything we need for the kids’ school (Backpacks, clothes, notebooks, crayons, pencils…) as well as lunchbox essentials and breakfast.
Just look at all of the wonderful breakfast options here. That is breakfast in minutes and it will be what gets us through the school year, I can already tell you!
We stocked up on Jimmy Dean® Pancakes and Sausage and Jimmy Dean® Fully Cooked Links & Patties for breakfasts.
If I’m honest, I know I’ll be back to grab some more State Fair® Classic Corn Dogs and Tyson® Chicken Nuggets for lunches and dinners and it’s only August!
All of these are convenient and huge money savers, they make it easy to stock up the freezer before school starts, making our jobs as parents just a little bit easier. Tyson Foods® totally has back to school covered for us!
My kids love the Jimmy Dean® Pancakes and Sausage, it’s been a favorite for a long time and the fully cooked links and patties make my job so much easier in the morning! Both of these simply have to be heated and then the kids are eating. No complex recipes or hours prepping in the kitchen.
I love that these provide the protein my kids need to start the day full of energy for school! It’s easy to give them every morning, it’s high quality with very low effort, which is a winning combination in my book!
Another thing to implement as the school year starts is a morning routine. I can’t tell you how many times we forgot backpacks last year, or weren’t given important papers from school in the backpack and sent it to school without reading essential information for the next day that had been sent home.
We’re aiming to change that this year and doing a back-to-school checklist. You can print yours here.
It was fun creating it, and then having the kids help with decorating it. It’s a simple way I was able to have a conversation with them about how our routine is going to be changing when school starts up again in a few weeks.
This is a visual checklist and they got to make/decorate it right along with me.
You can print yours out so your kids can do the same.
After printing, your first step is to let the kids color each item however they please.
The next (optional) step is to laminate the full paper. Larger pieces of paper are easier to laminate with either a laminating machine or you could pick up some laminating sheets at Walmart as well.
Next, cut each item on the checklist into it’s own square, using the lines as your guide. This way, they’ll all end up about the same size.
Stack the cards in the order that you want your child to complete each task. When they are lined up and in order, use a hole puncher, put a small hole in the top left corner of the stack.
Use a loose-leaf binder ring to hold them all together.
Each child now has their very own morning checklist to help them through their day. It will remind them to make their bed, get dressed, eat breakfast, brush their teeth and get their backpack ready. . . All the things kids usually forget!
If you laminate it, then they can keep it next to them as they eat the Jimmy Dean® Pancakes and Sausages for breakfast, and even when they brush their teeth!
Have you stocked up for back-to-school at Walmart yet? Don’t forget to grab your favorite Tyson Foods® products when you do, so you can be ready for the school year with the gear, and food you need to make it work!
