As moms, sometimes we can feel insignificant. The mundane daily tasks of motherhood threaten to eat us alive. The wiping of noses, the serving of meals and the endless need our children have for snacks. It’s relentless it’s important but it can, at times, feel anything but.
We have a yearning to do more, and I don’t think that is all bad. While the importance of a parent to their children could never be measured or surpassed, our impact on the world does not have to stop with those that cuddle on our laps. We can do so much more, while still giving ourselves to the ones that wake us in the night for just one more kiss and hug.
Today, I wanted to share an opportunity with you to be a part of something bigger. Even as we sit in America, washing dishes and playing hide and seek with our precious ones.
Fair Trade Friday is an amazing program started by Kirsten Welch to support Mercy House Kenya and other artisans around the world. This project creates jobs for women in other countries and provides amazing products as a way for us to support those women working fair jobs in their countries.
Fair Trade Friday was started almost a year ago, and we are starting a celebration and promotion for that reason! In just the last year FTF has created one thousand jobs, six thousand boxes, and supported women in eighteen countries. That’s just in their very first year! I am beyond excited to see what the next year will bring!
To give you a basic rundown, if you sign up to be an FTF member, you pay $31.99 a month, and they will send you a box full of beautiful and unique artisan pieces every single month! It’s a subscription service that allows you to change lives, and wear beautiful and unique items!
This program is literally changing lives all over the world, it absolutely thrills me that we can be a part of it! FTF sent me a box this month so I could tell you all about it, and I was amazed at the products inside. Not only were they labled with what country they were made in, but some of them even had the name of the woman who created the product. It make everything a lot more personal as I thought about her, her story and how her life was affected just by us purchasing her products.
They also allow you to try out just one sample box if you’d prefer to go that route. These make amazing gifts, both for your friends and family members AND the women you will be impacting around the world.
Can I encourage you to sign up to be a member of this special club? The club that will literally allow you to change the world while sitting knee deep in laundry, chasing kids around the house and sometimes feeling so ordinary. To impact the lives of women so far away, who, like us just need a way to support their families so they can love on them and care for them in the best possible way.
I love that we have a chance to make this impact together. Instead of just wanting to do more, we can do more. From right where we sit. Our roots may go deep in our location, but that does not mean that we cannot spread our branches and impact the world.
Let’s change the story together. Ours, and the stories being written by women all over the world.
You can learn more about the FTF project and sign up here! Or sign up for the earring of the month club, it costs a bit less but you support these women by purchasing their earrings. And, if you can’t commit to something monthly, you can also do some shopping straight in from the Mercy Shop to choose things piece by piece.
