Welcome to winter, my absolute least favorite season! I’ve never liked cool weather, but now that I’m a mom I hate winter for another reason. Cold and flu season! I feel like one or both of my kids are sniffling or sneezing all winter long!

This is the time of year to check that you have everything on hand that you need for a sick kiddo. It seems like the sicknesses can spring out of nowhere, and you don’t want to be caught at 3am with no medicine or other cold/flu essentials.
Here’s what you should keep on hand this time of year
1. Crackers – for those times when everything else sounds yucky, but you need to get something in your child’s belly. Plain, dry crackers can help a lot!
2. Bucket – Gross, I know, but when my kids are sick I make the sleep with a bucket. If they need to throw up, the usually don’t make it to the bathroom quite fast enough so the bucket makes it a lot easier to clean (and that way they can stay in their bed, even after they’ve thrown up).
3. Movies – Something fun to watch on tv is a sick day essential.
4. Cold medicine – not just any medicine. You need something your kids will actually take. One of the most frustrating things is trying to give a kiddo medicine that they hate in the middle of the night. One of the lowest points of motherhood. hah! Do you know what they will take though? Chocolate. So basically, Dr. Cocoa to the rescue! How genius is this? To make cold medicine that TASTES LIKE CHOCOLATE. You guys. This solves so many problems!!!
5. Saline spray – I love this stuff. You can just spray it up their noses and it helps clear them out and kill germs. Super helpful! Getting the child to hold still while you spray up their nose is another story…
6. Tissues – May seem obvious…but stock up my friends!
