We’re so thankful to be partnering with Dove for this post.
Beauty is a buzzword these days, as we are all striving to raise confident girls. Some say we shouldn’t call girls beautiful and others argue we should shout it from the rooftops.
As a mom of a daughter, it can be hard to see through it all and figure out what to say to my daughter as she grows.
This girl is spunk and spice and everything exhilarating. She’s adventurous and brave and she’s absolutely known for her gorgeous curly hair. It’s the first thing many people notice about her, it bounces as she plays and it’s usually spilling from a pony tail at the top of her head.
One thing I love about Dove™ is the positive messages they give women and girls about their hair. Did you know that according to a survey that Dove™ did this year, 8 in 10 women feel pressure to wear their hair a certain way. Combine that with the fact that 82% of girls learn to care about themselves from their moms, and we know that this is something that needs to be addressed.
Dove™ has created a #loveyourhair campaign to help ensure hair is a source of confidence for women and girls and not something that causes anxiety. WithDove™’s help I created a video for my daughter, and you can make one for free too right here.
Simply upload your favorite photo of you and your daughter, customize how you like, and Dove™ will take care of the rest. I love the little video they made for us, and couldn’t wait to share it!
I want her to be confident, and always comfy in her own skin, and with her hair, however wild and unruly it might be. Right now, she has a sense of style all her own, and her hair has a mind of it’s own. I love that it fits her personality and shows the world who she is. I hope that she’ll grow up knowing she’s loved for who she is, and not what her hair looks like or how she dressed. I hope she keeps this spunk that comes so naturally to her life and that she easily shares with those around her.
As mama, I’ve learned so much from her, and now I’m happy to pass the lesson back down to her as she grows up with gorgeous, natural curly hair.
I want to raise a little girl confident in who she is, and not anxious about wearing her hair a certain way. I’m grateful for brands like Dove™ who use their influence in commercials and on social media to encourage girls and promote positive self awareness and self confidence in girls and women alike! That’s a brand I want my daughter growing up with!
Don’t forget to swing by their site and make a video of your own with your daughter!
