Date nights are definitely some of the best times we have together. Since we have small kids at home and a tight budget, I’ve talked a lot about home date night ideas. We have a lot of fun at our regular home date nights, but recently we’ve broadened it a bit more. We’ve started doing double-dates at home!
This post brought to you by Breyers Gelato Indulgences . All opinions are 100% mine.
While the logistics of a home double-date night might be a bit more difficult to swing, it is so much fun! We’ve started doing it with some friends and it’s been fun for both of our families!
How to do a double date night at home!
We do them monthly and alternate who hosts. The host family is in charge of cooking dinner for every one while the other family brings the snacks! We go over around 5 and let all the kids eat together and have an hour or two to play before we put every one to sleep. When our friend’s host our kids are put to bed in their room in pack ‘n play or on the big bed. The same goes for when they come to ours. Their kiddos sleep in our room.
After the kids go to bed we pull out our dinner, snacks and board games!
We LOVE playing board games, and while my husband and I have quite the collection of two player games, it is nice to be able to play some multi-player and team games as well. This post has affiliate links so you can easily find what we’re talking about and get them for yourself!
Among our favorite games are:
Carcassone (pictured above)
ps – if you want to pull out some games for just 2 people, here’s our favorite list of 2 player board games.
We each have a game closet at our homes so we get a good variety of games and usually play two or three at each of our monthly double-dates! After our first couple games we will take a break for some dessert.
This month we had a new favorite – Breyers Gelato Indulgences! We got one of each flavor and it was WONDERFUL. Since we each have different preferences, every body had something they liked, from the Raspberry Cheescake, to the Vanilla Carmel, Triple Chocolate and of course, Tiaramisu! Most of us got a couple spoonfuls of each in our bowls because they are all so good! Mixing the creamy vanilla gelato with the luscious carmel sauce (And gourmet carmelly curls for good measure) with the Triple Chocolate – milk chocolate, dark chocolate with that amazing white chocolate sauce (and the chocolate curls, of course) is my personal favorite. My hubby is partial to the tiramisu withe the mascarpone gelato topped with espresso sauce (yum!) ladyfinger cookie pieces and sprinkled with gourmet cocoa!
It is the perfect end to any date night, be it a double date game night or something else.
A few more creative ideas for double date nights are:
- Mini golfing (I got this idea from my friend Whitney!)
- Not-so-newlyweds game
- Wacky couples night
- You could also go OUT to movie/dinner as a double date and then finish the evening in your own homes with a gelato dessert. YUM! You HAVE to save room for that cheesecake gelato topped with luscious raspberry sauce and gourmet graham cracker. The Raspberry Cheescake gelatto is definitely a winner at our house too!
Have you done double dates much since you’ve been married/had kids? What ideas can you share? How will YOU incorporate Breyers Gelato Indulgences into a romantic date night? I’d love to hear your ideas too!
