I feel like I spend half my life in the kitchen. If I’m not serving my kids breakfast or lunch then I’m packing their lunches for school or handing out snacks.
And then dinnertime comes around and I’m rushing to try to get dinner on the table and make sure everything is decently cleaned so the kids will be ready for bed, and often times this is happening while my husband is still on his way home from work so I’m also breaking up fights and trying to figure out why the kids are “sock skating” around the kitchen while I’m attempting to cook. And don’t get me started on clean up and dishes. Just when you think you’re done with the kitchen for the day you have untold number of cups, pots, pans and baking dishes to tidy before you can hang up your towel to start it all over again tomorrow.
Yep, this is life as a mama.
It’s no secret that cooking is not my favorite thing. I make no bones about it to my husband and family…I only cook because every one needs to be fed and I’m the one home to do it. I love them, so I endure, but because of chaotic life I only cook easy things.
And y’all, I have just discovered the easiest thing ever. I’m not kidding when I tell you I squealed a little bit when I tried this…and it worked. Barilla® really loves moms, and so they came up with one-pot-pasta. They’re calling it Pronto™ and I’m basically in love.
Before discovering Pronto™ My pasta cooking would involve one big pot to cook the noodles, another pan to cook whatever meat was going in, maybe another pot to steam some veggies in, and then a fourth and final pot to cook the sauce in. When everything was cooked, I would then dump it all in a big mixing bowl, stir it together and then serve. You guys, my dishwasher doesn’t even have enough room for all of those pots/pans. It’s craziness.
But I don’t want to cook food in icky noodle-water pan and my saucepan isn’t large enough to hold all the noodles, so I’m more than a little bit stuck.
Except Barilla®.
Barilla® came through and invited their Pronto™ noodles and I could basically kiss them.
All you do is put the noodles and some water in the bottom of a pot. You don’t end up having to drain them or anything. I don’t even understand it. It’s basically wizard. When the noodles are done, add your sauces, meats, veggies, anything! You can cook it all right there in the pan. And then you are done. WITH ONE PAN.
One pan fits in my dishwasher.
Cooking that ridiculously easy fits in my rule for only-really-easy-recipes-than-you-very-much.
So here’s what I used:
- 1 package of Barilla® Pronto™ macaroni noodles
- 1 jar alfredo sauce
- 1 can chicken
My husband was out of town when I tried this recipe, so I was a bit more crunched for time than usual and really hadn’t been doing much in the kitchen all week. On a normal week I would’ve used leftover jerk chicken from the night before or maybe fajita meat or something similar. For this busy night while daddy was out of town? Canned chicken worked well enough!
It was alarmingly easy. Cooking the Barilla® Pronto™ according to the package directions. When it is done, add the alfredo sauce and chicken, heat until all the flavors have mixed together. I added some garlic pepper and parmsean cheese to it as well. Then you are ready to serve. And all you have to clean up is one pot and one spoon. I call that a huge win, what about you?
I know I’ll be rushing to the store to buy these every time I’m cooking noodles now. You just can’t beat this level of easy, with one pot pastas!
What sort of recipe would you try first?

What a great idea, I didn’t know this existed! My son loves to cook but I worry about him draining hot water, I’ll have to get him some of these noodles! Do they come in wheat?
