Last year for halloween my son wanted to be a UPS person. Thankfully, I was able to find a cute halloween costume for that online. This year however he has decided he wants to be a garbage man and there is no “garbage man” costume to be found! So we decided to go the DIY route.
Keep in mind I’m not typically a DIY type person. You won’t catch me sewing clothing for my kids or cooking recipes with more than 5 or 6 ingredients. I knew we needed simple and affordable! Thankfully I was able to find everything I needed for his costume for Halloween at Dollar General!
I spent $25 and ended up with two outfits he can wear even after Halloween and two big bags of candy!
We bought a Batman outfit for $10 (pictured below)
and a matching shirt/shorts outfit too. I used the shirt from the second outfit to make our “trash man” shirt.
I also bought a black bucket for a trash can, two big bags of candy and some bright green tape to make the lettering!
Cut up the tape to make “trash man” lettering on shirt AND you can use it on the black bucket to make more lettering or in strips that you can write the child’s name on.
My son is SO excited to go trick or treating this year and he is thrilled with his costume!
