We are leading up to the time of year when every one talks about getting healthier. There are a couple more weeks until those new year’s resolutions will be made and between now and then, chances are every one is going to be doing a quite a bit of indulging.
I’m super excited to be partnering with Sara Lee® today to bring you some healthy tips to get you through the holiday season.
Here are five tips to help you have a healthier holiday
1. Make time for exercise – Sure, gym time may be at a minimum during these busy months, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t do simple things like take a family walk or jog for 20 minutes in the mornings. Quick and simple exercise can help keep your body on the right track an prepare you for whatever more rigorous exercise regiments you may have planned for the new year.
2. Healthier desserts – I am definitely a person who spends her fair share of time at the dessert table at each holiday gathering, but there are some healthier dessert options you can try. Satisfy that sweet tooth with some equally delicious but healthier options. That way you can feel like you are indulging without totally getting your dietary goals off track.
3. Everyday choices – When we aren’t the ones cooking, we have little say in the healthiness of the holiday meal. so if a healthier holiday meal itself is out of the question, you can make a point to make extra healthy everyday choices both leading up to the holiday and after! Sara Lee® Delightful breads are great healthier bread options with no artificial colors, flavors, high fructose corn syrup and 0g of trans fat! It’s those little daily decisions that add up so much more than one simple holiday feast! Make smart choices in the every day so that if a day of indulgence does come up, it doesn’t completely throw you off track for more than just that day.
4. Avoid drama – This season is notorious for being stressful and dramatic. Prepare in advance for encounters with those more-dramatic family members and be ready to make peace wherever you can. While it’s not something that is thought of every day in regards to healthy living, avoiding drama and bringing peace can help improve every area of your live! Here are some extra tips on how to avoid dramatic encounters with those more difficult family members (we all have at least one!).
5. Relax – It is one of the hardest things to do during the holidays, but making an effort to relax and steal moments just to breathe can do a lot for your own well being this season and make the holiday more enjoyable for every one around you too! When you start feeling overwhelmed, here are three things to help you feel better.
