It’s that time of year again. The time when we realize how awful the car pickup line truly is. Our preschool gets out before kindergarten. Which means, our preschooler will get to sit in the school pickup line first thing after we pick her up from preschool.
I can totally see how keeping your little ones busy in the car can make the pickup line can make the whole thing a lot easier.
Here are some of the smartest ways to keep your toddlers and preschoolers busy in the school pickup line.
Start with some fun coloring sheets. What I love about downloading free coloring sheets from the internet is that I can get new ones based on my kids whims. Instead of buying a new coloring book every time they want to color a new character or scene.
You can get fun (free) Star Wars coloring sheets here. Or even Finding Dory! There are tons of other Disney coloring sheets to print out here. Have these in the car with colored pencils or crayons that are special for pickup time to keep the kids from becoming board of them.
If you have a younger toddler, get a busy book for them to keep in the car. This is a great way for them to learn and explore their senses, even when they are stuck in the carseat.
Water wow is a favorite to play in the car too. Paint with water in the magic pen, and see the sheets come to life. You should have enough time to dry out the pages so they can do them again in the next pickup line.
If you have to get a tablet to make it through the school year, I recommend the kids kindle fire. Not only do they replace it if your kid breaks it, but it’s also a LOT cheaper than most (if not all) the other tablets on the market today.
