I’ve heard it said that you know it was a good day of playing for the kids when the bathwater turns gray at the end of the day. So true…but what about the washing machine? I think we can all agree that we need a heavy duty washer that WORKS because playtime gets messy more often than not!
Sometimes its playing in the sandbox. Their shoes always come off and some how they end up with sand stuck to them literally from the top of their heads to the bottoms of their feet.

Other times you might catch us running around in the backyard. In the rain. Because mud puddles don’t last forever, and neither do little kids who are willing to splash in them with their mamas.
At the end of the day they are messy and I’m messy, but we’re filthy together and having fun. But as sweet and sentimental as these moments might be, I have to be realistic too.
That’s where Maytag laundry comes in. They actually challenge you to share your Filthiest Plays of the Week. Maybe those are backyard shenanigans like ours, or maybe you have some messy sports players you can feature. Either way, if you share those pictures on Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #MyFilthiestPlay you could win some amazing prizes from Maytag. They give away prizes weekly and you could have the chance to win the grand prize… a trip to the World Series and a Maytag Top Load Washer and Dryer pair. Amazing. Because we all know how important it is to have a high-quality and up to date washer/dryer unit in our home. Because playtime gets messy whether we are ready for it or not! Maytag top load washer and dryer means not having to worry about the messes!
If you need help coming up with ways to let the kids get filthy here are some tips (because if my family knows anything, it’s how to enjoy some dirt and mud!)
- Play in the rain – (just make sure there’s no thunder)
- Make ‘sand angels’ in the sandbox – It’s just like snow angels, only messier and it’s one of my daughter’s favorite things to do!
- Freeze tag – Not just any freeze tag, but the kind where to get unfrozen some one has to dive through your legs. Everyone ends up covered in dirt and giggling at the end of the game!
- Unconventional ball games – Maybe you don’t have enough people to play baseball or football, but don’t let that stop you! Try dodgeball, kickball or even Calvinball (you get lots of brownie points if you understood that reference!)
How do you keep your sanity when the kids are wanting to play things that get them anything but clean? Share your craziest, messiest story in the comments and don’t forget to tweet!
