Thanks to Dr Smith’s for sponsoring our conversation today and for making life easier for mother’s everywhere!
So, life is never what one would describe as “easy”. We all have our challenges, struggles and joys. There are always going to be times when we feel like no one else’s life could be quite as difficult as our own, or no one understands how hard things are.
Seasons of particular difficulty may come and go, but there are some challenges that are constant. Like getting my 3 year old to wear pants. Yep, don’t see that struggle ending anytime soon. But still, there are some subtle things that make life easier. Simple changes that make difficult days bearable.
Here are 8 things that make my life easier.
1. Nap time – Yes, I’m going there, right off the bat too! Nap time is God’s gift to mother’s everywhere. Yes, our children normally have 3,000X more energy than we do, but they also require naps and we get some time to catch up or just salvage what is left of our sanity during those precious minutes when the children sleep in the middle of the day. Nap time = bliss.
2. Dishwashers – I’ll admit, I always took these glorious contraptions for granted. But now that we live in our new house and the dishwasher is a bit on the wonky side, I’ll be the first to say that dishwashers make life a whole lot easier. Particularly if you have a fully functioning one that actually, you know, cleans the dishes.
3. Husbands – For real though. He gets home from work everyday, has a quick snack and then he turns into a horse for Princess or plays headbandz with the boy. They think he is the greatest thing ever (well, so do I…) and he makes everything better after a bad day. Just knowing I’m not alone in this crazy life makes it all better, but living life with him, well, that’s the best.
4. Microwaveable food – Do I really need to say more? Best. Invention. Ever.
5. Sprayable Diaper Rash Cream– I’m not even kidding. This stuff is real and my only response when I got a sample in the mail from Dr. Smith’s was “where have you been all my life”. I mean seriously, I have no interest in rubbing cream on my baby’s bum on a good day, and then when it’s all rash-y. Just…gross. The spray actually works, I felt like I was spray painting kiddo’s rear which was kind of amusing but it went on thick and I didn’t have to apply it via the normal, yucky methods. It smelled good and cleared up my poor girl’s rash fast! Makes for one happy mama (And baby) let me tell you!
6. Washable Everything – Washable crayons, paints, markers you name it! These products are a mom’s best friend. Kiddo just colored all over your Mother-in-law’s end table and she’ll be home in 3 minutes? No prob! Just wipe it up with water. Life saver let me tell you! (Not that this happened in real life or anything…we don’t need to get into specifics, right?)
7. Bubble bath – Also known as “the only reason my children every bathe”. Works as a soap, makes them smell good and actually convinces them that they need to cleanse themselves now and again. I call that a mommy win for sure.
8. Closets – I think a mom must have invented closets. Be it for hiding Christmas gifts, or merely keeping some toys tucked away so that leggos don’t end up over every square inch of everything, closets are a pretty wonderful thing and definitely make life as a parent that much easier.
Bonus – You know what else makes life easier? Money. I know, I know, money doesn’t buy happiness and all that, but it does pay rent and feed my kids and ensure that we aren’t walking around naked, so it’s still pretty good. And especially worth mentioning since Dr Smith’s is offering a giveaway to Beauty Through Imperfection readers! One lucky winner will receive a $200 visa gift card and a Dr Smith’s prize pack. Three runner’s up will receive a Dr Smith’s prize pack (which is pretty awesome too!). The giveaway starts Monday, August 24 at midnight and ends Sunday, August 31 at midnight.

Coffee!! Oh my! I didn’t start drinking it until after I had my 2nd! :) Now, it helps me feel so good in the mornings when I just want to lay in bed and let my little ones fend for themselves! :)

Crock pot meals make my life so much easier. I can throw them in in the morning to cook and it’s done by the time hubby gets home from work. None of that “what’s for dinner” craziness.

Leather seats in cars! I can’t count how many times I have found ice cream or milk dried on my seats and can clean it without too much of a hassle!
