We love making food fun and creating simple, but cute ways to encourage our kiddos to eat more. It’s all in the marketing!!! Salad becomes “leaves”, broccoli morphs into “trees” and hot dogs take on the form of an “octopus”.
To make these adorable little creatures you’ll need:
- Bar-S Hot Dogs (we used the jumbo classic ones, yum!)
- Spagetti Noodles
- Ketchup
Start by cutting your Hot Dogs into pieces. I got 4-5 per dog, since I got the extra long jumbo dogs from Bar-S. Next, you will break two uncooked spagetti noodles in half per hot dog piece. Poke these through the pieces in an X shape to create the octopus legs!
Put all of these in a pot of boiling water and cook for 7-10 minutes, until the noodles are done. Serve with a pool of ketchup, or if you are extra ambitious you can make ketchup faces on your octopus bites!
The kids though this was hilarious when I served it to them and quickly ate them all! Such a simple way to make them laugh and have a bit of extra fun at meal times!
For extra fun, you can Visit Bar-S Facebook for a chance to win products & prizes! and Find more information on Bar-S products on their site as well! They are affordable and SO yummy! The all-beef dogs are my favorite!!! They are running a social campaign right now called Cartin’ around the country – it features different regional frank renditions from around the country. Yummy and fun!!!
What fun ways do you make your kids laugh at mealtimes? Have you ever served up octopus?
