When Becky told me that she was selling her potty training ebook for 50% off for the next few days, I knew I would have to share it with all of you! Her little girl is celebrating her first birthday this week so if you use the code ONE at checkout, you will get 50% off the potty training book!
Have you actually read it? – Yes, I read the entire book in one sitting. It was about 50 pages long and really easy to read. Definitely a very user friendly process. I loved the way Becky shared her experiences, and used what she had learned from a variety of different methods and potty training ideas.
Would you recommend it? – YES! I wouldn’t be writing this post for you if I did not. Becky shares the ideal age for using her method is between 16-20 months, and I definitely agree with that assessment! I’m thinking about trying this method with the Princess next year whenever she starts to show interest in the potty.
Was this the method you used to train Little Man? – No, it was not. I didn’t potty train him until he was 2 and a half, and I didn’t think a structured method would work for him at that age. He’s a very strong willed child and does not always respond well to structure, even the very relaxed structure that is recommended in Becky’s book. I ended up doing my own thing with him, and it worked great for us (I will be sharing more about that next week, for those of you with older or more strong willed toddlers). However, I feel like the methods from Becky’s book would have worked great with him, had I chosen to potty train earlier. He was showing interested around 18 months, right in the middle of the ideal age range for the book! I was very pregnant at the time, and didn’t have the energy to deal with potty training, so I waited, and he lost interest until recently.
What age did you potty train? Or are you still preparing for it?

I am in the same boat as you were with your Little Man. He has shown some interest in the toilet (quite a bit a few ‘months ago) but I am very pregnant and I don’t want to start something I can’t finish. I did get out the potty seat when he first started showing interest, and if he wants to sit on it I will put him on it (sometimes with clothes, sometimes without) but I don’t have time to do anything full time and I am not completely sure he’s ready. He knows when he is pooping (or he did a few months ago, haven’t noticed it as much recently) but doesn’t seem to notice peeing at all. If he would pee on the toilet I would put him on it more often but I highly doubt that he will be toilet trained for poop anytime soon (and I don’t want to push that at all because he struggles with constipation so much so that we use miralax to help him poop and the dr said to be careful with toilet training because if he holds it it will make the constipation worse) so I will wait and see when he shows signs of readiness when he is a little bit older.

Hi Paula, thanks for sharing about that book. I’m not trying to compete, but I have a recommendation for any soon to be mama’s out there: the diaper free baby book. Basically from 5 weeks both my boys have been sat on the potty to do their business. I’m so pleased with this method! My eldest was fully potty trained at 25 months and I think it could have been earlier, but I was pregnant and didn’t have the energy!!! (Sound familiar?!). I think there’s a lot of misconceptions about this method, I didn’t follow it to the letter as my boy is very strong willed too, but it’s not as much work as people think – just a habit to get into! On the plus side, it’s been a real money saver and you get to feel really smug when it works! I just thought more people should know about it and give it a try! X
