The holidays are notorious for being the busiest and most stressful time of year! It’s so easy to get too busy to spend time with your spouse, which is why I decided to share this super simple and relaxing holiday date night idea with you today! This is the perfect date for a night after you are done shopping for all those last minute Christmas gifts! Since I’ve already done most of our Christmas shopping, we decided to do ours after my husband had put in a particularly long day of work at his job.
To get ready I went by Walgreens bought some yummy food! They have an amazing selection of gourmet appetizers, party food, ice cream, pizza etc. (Tip: If you choose from the Good & Delish brand, you will get lots of points back on your balance rewards card!) I bought some spinach artichoke dip, a chicken BBQ pizza, vanilla ice cream and a bag of dark chocolate trail mix!
We had never tried any of the Walgreens brand food before and we were really impressed! We definitely felt spoiled, and it was so nice to be able to buy such affordable and gourmet food just down the road at our local Walgreens instead of having to go by a busy restaurant or (even worse) having to prepare something at home.
After the kids went to bed I spent a few minutes heating up our dip and pizza and then we snuggled up in our bed to have dinner and watch our favorite, Dr Who! It had been a really long day for both of us, so it was wonderful to be able to just stop, and connect in the evening instead of worrying about cooking dinner, doing dishes, or anything else!
Next, I got out the ice cream and we paired it with the yummy trail mix. This was DELICIOUS!!! If you ever have the chance to put dark chocolate trail mix on vanilla ice cream, do it!!! Ours had Dark chocolate covered coffee beans, Dark Chocolate covered craisins & raisins, almonds and regular (non chocolat-y) raisins & craisins. It was a wonderful variety that made the perfectly sweet end to our date night!
Date night doesn’t have to be extravagant or stressful. Just take some time at the end of a long day to show your spouse how much you care. Spend time together and enjoy one another’s company! Let your to-do list wait awhile :)
When can you squeeze a date night in this month? What special treats from Walgreens will you buy to share?
