Did you make any goals for the new year? I know it’s a bit unlikely to be talking new year goals at the end of February, but let’s do it anyway. December and January are both a blur. From a trip to Europe, Christmas and then recovering from both I barely had time to get my head above water in January much less set goals for myself going into 2016.
I know that for many January is a rough month anyway… It’s getting colder, you might be dealing with debt from Christmas or still reeling from family drama over the holidays.
January is not always the best time to start your year on the right foot.
So I say, forget it! Wait until February. Wait until you are ready to make changes, don’t force them on yourself only to jump off the band wagon because January is a notoriously overwhelming month!
So now that things are settled…here are my goals for the rest of the year. Be sure to share yours in the comments too!
Pay off our house – When we bought it, my goal was to pay it off before we were 30. Then in the past year I’ve started aiming for before my 26th birthday. Since that is just a month away now, I don’t think I’m going to make the latter goal, but I’d still love to pay it off this year. Less debt is always a good thing!
Sleep more – Between work and kiddos I don’t get the sleep that I should. One of my biggest health related goals for the year is to get on a better sleep schedule so that I have more energy and can stop chugging coffee all day (and night).
Play more – Ever since my friend pointed out to me that I was missing beautiful moments with my kids, playing has become a much higher priority in our home. Laughter and giggles does so much for all of our mental health and we grow in love every time we play together. Simple, but essential.
Do crazy things with my hair – Ok, this is probably the least important thing on here, but it’s still something I’m doing! We tried to go bright blue and it ended up an interesting mermaid ombre. I’m not complaining, but still hoping to get my turquoise hair before the year is up!
Emotionally prepare for Kindergarten – No, not my kid, me… He’s so ready and I’m trying not to think about the fact that my little baby is off to Kinder this Fall. This is craziness and I’m not ready. Next year both of my kids will be in school, the real kind, not the preschool stuff that I’ve gotten used to. Someone tell me how to be ready for this because I’m totally not.
Exercise more – I’m not an exercise person. At all. I don’t want to pay for a gym membership and I absolutely hate running so I’ve just ignored the fact that exercise is healthy for most of my adult life. When I was younger I loved riding bikes, in fact one of my favorite things to do was ride bikes in the middle of the night with my favorite people. It was the best stress reliever. I plan on starting back up with the bike riding (though probably only during the day). I love that Nature Made is supporting us in our goals by offering their Daily Boosts. Work on a healthier lifestyle – Our whole family could be healthier, and step one is vitamins. It’s something I always forget! I decided it was time to restock so we went to Walmart and found a huge display of Nature Made vitamins. I was able to pick up everything we needed (all within our budget) and take them home so that we can get that part of our new year goals off to a great start this February too. I also found out that Nature Made is the #1 Pharmacist recommended supplement brand in 9 categories**
To grow my business – I have written down several big goals for my business this year. It is fun working on them and slowly checking things off the list. Hosting a blogging retreat is one of the biggest ones and that’s happening next month!
Do you set goals for yourself or your family in the new year? What about February goals? I’d love to hear yours!
