The big day is here and looking at the forecast we are facing an 80% chance of rain this evening.
My kids are at school and I’m bracing myself for how I’m going to break the news to them that we probably can’t trick or treat tonight.
So yes, I’m on the internet searching for ideas on how to do something fun for the kids, even though we may not be able to go door to door in our neighborhood tonight.
Door to door inside
One idea is for all the adults to hide in different rooms around the house and have the kids go trick or treating throughout the home. They could take a few laps through the hallways to collect their goodies.
Leave them clues for a scavenger hunt around the house. Each child can go on their own hunt with a bag of candy at the end!
Grab some ponchos
You don’t necessarily have to cancel Halloween, especially if you have bigger kids. Grab some ponchos and hats and go trick or treating anyway.
Stay indoors and watch movies
Another option we are toying with for tonight is to build an epic blanket fort and watch some movies. Our kids are a little bit too young for any scary movies, but it’s never the wrong time to watch Harry Potter, right?
Make spooky snacks
Go out to eat
Search your location and see if any local restaurant are giving away free kids meals for children in costume. I know the Sonic Drive Ins near us are doing 50 cent corn dogs all day, so that could be an option that would keep everyone in the car.
Play some Halloween games
We have a huge board game collection to choose from, but if you want to try something new you could print out one of these Halloween games.
Or grab some awesome coloring sheets and activities from this GIANT list of downloadable Disney coloring sheets.
What does your family do if it rains on Halloween? Share your ideas with us in the comments so all of us watching it rain can find something fun to do with our families!
